Thai Hoa Palace is the most important structure in the Hue Imperial City and is considered the “symbol” of the dynasty’s power. It was built by King Gia Long in 1805 in the Dai Cung Mon area; in 1833, King Minh Mang rebuilt it at its current location.

Under the Nguyen Dynasty, Thai Hoa Palace was the place where important court ceremonies took place such as: coronation ceremonies, official receptions of envoys, grand court sessions...

At the end of 2021, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province started the project "Conservation and overall restoration of Thai Hoa Palace relic" with a total cost of more than 128 billion VND. Initially, the project was scheduled to be completed in August 2025, but the project progress was then implemented smoothly, quickly and synchronously, so it is expected to be completed many months earlier.
