Closing the National Cheo Festival - 2025: Shining the quintessence of national theater

(PLVN) - After nearly two weeks of exciting events, the National Cheo Festival - 2025 officially ended on the evening of November 2 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Culture - Exhibition Center, leaving many beautiful impressions in the hearts of the public and artists, affirming the enduring vitality of Cheo art in contemporary life.

Attending the closing ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong , Head of the Festival Steering Committee; Director of the Department of Performing Arts, People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac , Head of the Festival Organizing Committee; Vice President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, People's Artist Giang Manh Ha ; together with leaders of departments and agencies under the Central Ministries and branches; Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Thi Hang , Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son and a large number of audiences who love traditional arts.

This year's festival takes place from October 20 to November 2 , bringing together nearly 1,000 artists and actors from 12 professional Cheo art troupes nationwide with 21 outstanding performances . Each work is a vivid slice of life, bringing the audience genuine emotions and pride in the national theatrical heritage.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong spoke at the closing ceremony.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong highly appreciated the efforts of art troupes, artists, directors, scriptwriters, musicians, painters and technicians who contributed to the success of the Festival. He affirmed that this is an activity of important significance in preserving, honoring and promoting the artistic value of Cheo , and at the same time, it is an opportunity for units to exchange, learn, nurture young talents and promote creativity in the new era.

According to playwright Chu Thom - Chairman of the Festival's Arts Council, this year many works have boldly exploited modern themes, reflecting the breath of life today, showing the spirit of innovation and youthful vitality of the Vietnamese Cheo stage .

The Organizing Committee awarded Gold Medals to two plays: "Thien Menh" ( Bac Ninh Cheo Theater) and "Nguyen Van Cu - Great Youth" (Army Cheo Theater).

At the end of the Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded Gold Medals to two plays: “Thien Menh” (Bac Ninh Cheo Theatre) and “Nguyen Van Cu - Tuoi Tre Chi Lon” (Army Cheo Theatre); the Outstanding Artist Award went to Meritorious Artist Quynh Mai (Bac Ninh Cheo Theatre) and Meritorious Artist Quoc Phong (Hanoi Cheo Theatre). In addition, there were 33 Gold Medals, 65 Silver Medals for performing artists and many awards for creative elements.

With careful preparation, professional organization and high artistic quality, the National Cheo Festival - 2025 has successfully concluded, contributing to honoring the quintessence of national theater , arousing pride and love for Cheo art - a unique cultural heritage of Vietnam.
