Difficult to recover 2.4 billion VND wrongly spent on "meritorious people"

(NLDO) - Despite the discovery, Kon Tum province has not been able to recover 2.4 billion VND spent on 36 cases of falsified documents to receive benefits for meritorious people.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Kon Tum province is urging localities to recover over 2.4 billion VND that was wrongly spent on meritorious people in the area.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Binh , Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Kon Tum province, from 1997-2013, localities in the area had wrongly paid benefits to 36 beneficiaries with a total amount of over 2.4 billion VND.

Since 2013, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has inspected and discovered, and requested the recovery of the wrongly spent money. The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Kon Tum province and other localities have carried out the recovery but have not been successful so far. The reason is that out of the 36 people, 9 have passed away, the others are all elderly, ethnic minorities with difficult circumstances, and the allocated money has been spent.

Recently, Ms. Y Ngoc, Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, signed a document directing the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to clearly report the total number of beneficiaries who received the wrong benefits, the number that has been recovered, the number that has not been recovered; difficulties, problems and propose and recommend solutions in the coming time.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs needs to continue to monitor and urge localities to completely recover the amount of money spent in violation of regulations and pay it to the budget.

In addition, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province requested the People's Committees of districts and cities to urgently have appropriate plans to ensure the complete recovery of preferential subsidies of beneficiaries who have received them in violation of regulations in the area and pay them to the state budget.
