This afternoon, August 2nd, in Hanoi , the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (UMP - VNU) held its graduation ceremony and awarded diplomas for the year 2024. A special feature of this year's graduation ceremony at UMP is the graduation of the first cohort of students from the Bachelor of Nursing program and the first cohort of students from the Master of Surgery program.

According to Professor Le Ngoc Thanh, Rector of UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy, after this ceremony, the university will add to society's high-quality medical workforce with 376 new doctors, pharmacists, and bachelors from 6 undergraduate majors, and 52 master's students from 4 specialized fields.
This includes 116 new medical doctors, 87 new pharmacists, 52 new dentists, 38 new laboratory technicians, 34 new imaging technicians, 49 new nursing graduates; 11 masters in surgery, 20 masters in pediatrics, 17 masters in dentistry, and 4 masters in ophthalmology.
Among them, 49 new nursing graduates and 11 surgical master's graduates are the first cohort of students and trainees in the nursing bachelor's and surgical master's programs.
Professor Le Ngoc Thanh stated that after 4 years of establishment, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy UMP (formerly the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy) has seen a significant increase in its undergraduate and postgraduate enrollment. Currently, the university has 3,000 undergraduate students and over 300 postgraduate students, with a system of modern classrooms, laboratories, and equipment at its two main campuses: Xuan Thuy (Cau Giay, Hanoi) and Hoa Lac (approximately 30 km from the center of Hanoi).
In the last three years, from having only 4 postgraduate training programs, the university now offers 12 master's programs (the first program started enrolling students in 2021), 13 residency programs, and most recently, 2 specialist doctor training programs (Level 1) have begun enrolling students.
To improve quality and elevate its standing, UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy is actively implementing international cooperation activities to create opportunities for students, trainees, and especially young lecturers and prospective lecturers to exchange academic knowledge, establish training partnerships, and integrate regionally and internationally.
UMP is urgently implementing the Linh Duong campus of the University Medical Center and the University Medical Center at building D2 Xuan Thuy to expand its practical training and scientific research facilities and serve the community. The university is also finalizing the dossiers for the accreditation of specialized training programs under the Ministry of Health's purview, as well as master's and doctoral training programs.
