The 20th Dong Nai Newspaper Cup Children's Football Tournament in 2024 kicked off

(NLDO) - The 20th Dong Nai Newspaper Cup Children's Football Tournament gathered 11 football teams from districts, Bien Hoa City and Long Khanh City.

At the opening ceremony held at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center on the morning of August 8, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung emphasized: The Dong Nai Newspaper Cup Children's Football Tournament has contributed to discovering and introducing players to the province's youth teams as well as the children's and youth teams participating in the Phu Dong Sports Festival Football Tournament for primary and secondary school students nationwide organized by the Ministry of Education and Training .

Some children who participated in the Dong Nai Newspaper Cup Children's Football Tournament were selected to enter gifted classes of the Provincial Gifted High School and prestigious football training centers in the country.

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung, at the 20th milestone, the tournament was officially named Dong Nai Newspaper Cup - CP Vietnam Children's Football Tournament. This has truly become a useful playground, creating a healthy environment, a joyful and exciting spirit for children before entering the new school year.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Dong Nai Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee Dao Van Tuan said that the Dong Nai Newspaper Cup Children's Football Tournament is a traditional provincial football tournament, a practical and useful activity, an interesting and attractive playground in the summer for children, and one of the official activities of the Dong Nai Province Summer Steering Committee. The tournament is organized annually by Dong Nai Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This year, the official name of the tournament is Dong Nai Newspaper Cup - CP Vietnam Children's Football Tournament. The tournament has been upgraded in terms of quality, prize scale and especially this year's tournament has the support of sponsor CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the match took place between U.11 Long Khanh team and the defending champion U.11 Bien Hoa team.

The 20th Dong Nai Newspaper Cup - CP Vietnam Children's Football Tournament 2024 takes place from August 8 to 14 at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center Gymnasium. The 20th tournament brings together 11 teams from districts, Bien Hoa City and Long Khanh City. The teams participating in the tournament are composed of primary school students (born in 2014 or earlier + 3 students born in 2013) in the 2023-2024 school year.

The winning team will receive a cup, flag, gold medal, 20 million VND in prize money and other material prizes. The second-place team will receive a flag, silver medal and 15 million VND in prize money; the two third-place teams will receive flags, bronze medals and 10 million VND in prize money.
