A cold front is intensifying in Northern Vietnam; Hanoi is about to experience cold weather, with some areas experiencing severe cold.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, currently (December 11th), a strong cold front is moving southward in the north.

In the Hanoi area, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on the night of December 12th and during the day of December 13th; there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. From December 13th onwards, the weather will turn cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature will be 12-14°C.

In the Northern region: Sunny during the day, scattered rain at night, and some areas with fog in the early morning. Maximum temperature 24-27°C.

Forecast for the next 24-48 hours: Around December 13th, the cold air mass will affect the northeastern part of Northern Vietnam, then spread to the northern part of Central Vietnam, the northwestern part of Northern Vietnam, and the central part of Central Vietnam.

Strong northeasterly winds of force 3, force 4-5 in coastal areas, force 6 in some places, gusting to force 7.

From December 13th, the weather in Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam will turn cold, with severe cold in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam from December 13th to 14th, and even frost in some high mountainous areas; some areas in the Northern Delta will experience severe cold.

Temperatures in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam range from 7-10°C, while in high mountainous areas they are below 5°C. In the Northern Delta, temperatures range from 11-14°C. In North Central Vietnam, temperatures range from 12-15°C.

At sea,   From the afternoon of December 13th, in the Gulf of Tonkin, there will be northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to 8-9; the sea will be rough, with waves 2-4m high.

Warning: From the night of December 12th to the night of December 13th, Northern and North Central Vietnam will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain; accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. From the night of December 13th to the night of December 14th, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai-Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will experience rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain.

Severe cold weather affects livestock and poultry farming; it slows down or damages the growth of crops.
