Activating the

Frequently flooded area in Long village, Van Phu commune.

Dong Luong Commune is the convergence point of many large streams. The nature of the floods in the area rises very quickly, the development is unpredictable, and it is difficult to warn, so there is a high risk of flash floods and landslides. Meanwhile, the population is scattered on both sides of the Am River and along National Highway 217.

Immediately after completing the organization of the two-level local government, Dong Luong commune has completed the Steering Committee for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue and civil defense. With a proactive spirit, the locality has built specific disaster response scenarios for each situation such as: floods, droughts, landslides, thunderstorms, hail... with proactive and timely response and evacuation measures.

In addition, the commune also increased propaganda to make people aware of the danger and proactively relocate houses and livestock barns from low-lying areas.

Landslide warning and prevention are also focused on by mobilizing people to evacuate from steep hillsides, near river banks, streams... At the same time, warning signs are installed at dangerous locations to help people proactively avoid them.

Activating the

Frequently flooded location in Van Phu commune.

In Van Phu commune, in recent years, the situation of flash floods and landslides has been very complicated. With the characteristics of villages located along the Am River, such as Pha, Cam, Loong, Ban U, Cu Ta, they are often flooded and flash floods, causing traffic disruption, seriously affecting people's lives.

Faced with the above situation, Van Phu commune has also synchronously deployed many propaganda solutions, prepared materials and means for rescue, and mobilized people to leave high-risk areas...

Activating the

The resettlement area for people at risk of being affected by natural disasters in Van Phu commune is being urgently completed.

In particular, natural disaster prevention work is integrated with social security and resettlement policies. To date, the commune has resettled 62 households in areas at high risk of natural disasters. Kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools have also been planned and relocated away from landslide areas to ensure the safety of students and teachers before the new school year begins.

Mr. Luong Van Trung, Long village, Van Phu commune happily shared: "Every year during the rainy season, my family of 6 has to move to a relative's house because of flooding. This year, my family received 80 million VND in support from Directive 22 of the province, and the commune arranged resettlement land. It is expected that in about 20 days, the whole family will move to a new house, no longer worried about flooding."

Faced with the urgent need for disaster prevention and control, Thanh Hoa province has requested that after completing the organization of the grassroots government apparatus, communes must immediately strengthen the disaster prevention and control command force, not allowing any gaps in management when floods come.
