In order to facilitate trade and investment activities in the province, increase import and export turnover, and increase revenue for the budget, in 2023 the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department focused on the following tasks: Supervising and managing import and export activities, temporary import and re-export, temporary export and re-import, and transit goods to ensure strict compliance with regulations; promptly resolving difficulties in customs procedures, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities and investment activities in Nghe An province.

The unit also issued 22 new decisions and 28 decisions extending the location for goods inspection at factory production facilities, and issued decisions extending the transit time for shipments of barium sulfate ore and coal dust; administrative procedures related to confirming the import timber manifest when carrying out customs procedures; strengthening efforts to combat tax evasion and ensure monetary security…
In 2023, there were 475 businesses. Customs clearance procedures were carried out with a total of 56,847 import and export declarations (an increase of 17.5% compared to the same period in 2022). The main export items included limestone and white limestone powder of various types, wood chips, clinker, mobile phone speakers, headphones, electronic products, and processed garments… The main import items included hot-rolled steel coils, machinery and equipment, electronic components, aluminum coils, paper for milk cartons, raw materials for garment processing and export production, asphalt, diesel fuel, and refined palm oil…

As a result, total import and export turnover reached 3.141 billion USD, of which export turnover was 1.871 billion USD and import turnover was 1.269 billion USD (an increase of 7% compared to the same period in 2022).
In 2023, the Customs Department directed and guided its units to effectively implement policies on taxes, tax rates, and taxable values, adhering to the correct procedures for consulting and determining taxable values; and ensuring accurate and timely collection and remittance to the state budget. As of December 14th, the total revenue remitted to the state budget was VND 1,177 billion, reaching 94.23% of the mandated target (VND 1,250 billion). It is projected that by December 31st, the target will reach VND 1,255 billion, achieving 100.4% of the mandated target.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of Nghe An Customs' activities in 2023. He stated clearly: In the coming time, the global and regional situation will have complex developments, strongly impacting the domestic economy , especially production and business activities, and import and export activities of the whole country in general and Nghe An in particular.
Therefore, in 2024, the Nghe An Customs Department needs to closely follow the province's and the industry's programs to have timely and effective solutions, and strive to implement solutions to improve the investment and business environment, support and develop businesses.
At the same time, the unit needs to improve efficiency, overcome difficulties in production and business, promote growth, and create a favorable environment for economic development; and decisively and synchronously implement solutions to fulfill the task of collecting state budget revenue and the set targets and plans.
The Nghe An Customs Department also needs to effectively coordinate with relevant levels and sectors; continue to promote administrative reform, modernize customs, and build a strong customs force to meet requirements and effectively implement digital transformation...


At the conference, the Director of the Nghe An Customs Department awarded Certificates of Commendation to 3 collectives and 30 individuals who achieved outstanding results in 2023.
