According to Bach Thi Man, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, in the first six months of this year, the total number of tourists visiting the area is estimated at 1.565 million, with revenue reaching approximately 427 billion VND.

On July 8th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province organized a discussion program on solutions to stimulate domestic tourism in the locality.
This activity is to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Tourism Industry (July 9, 1960 - July 9, 2024).
At the program, Ms. Bach Thi Man, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, said that in recent years, tourism promotion and advertising have been gradually diversified, with a wide variety of tourism publications. The application of information technology in tourism promotion and advertising has been increasingly strengthened, meeting the information needs of tourists, businesses, and investors.
Kon Tum is a province where over 55% of the population are ethnic minorities. The Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively implemented community-based tourism models to improve management efficiency and promote the preservation of the valuable cultural heritage and values of ethnic communities in the area, while developing tourism in a sustainable manner. To date, the province has 13 tourist destinations and 1 provincial-level tourist area.
In the first six months of this year, the total number of tourists visiting the area is estimated at 1.565 million, generating revenue of approximately 427 billion VND.
During the program, delegates, investors, and businesses actively discussed and offered numerous suggestions and recommendations aimed at stimulating demand and attracting tourists to Kon Tum province in the coming period.
Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thao, Deputy Director of Hai Van Kon Tum International Tourism Company, stated that the Bo Y International Border Gate in Po Y commune, Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province, is a famous destination attracting numerous tourists from both within and outside the province. However, during the development of the tourism route there, the company encountered difficulties due to the lengthy procedures for tourists to cross into Laos. This is considered a negative experience for tourists because of the long wait times.
Representatives from Ê Ban Farm Măng Đen shared that during the investment and construction of tourist attractions in Kon Plông district, the unit encountered many difficulties, including obstacles related to legal and regulatory mechanisms. Training and employing local ethnic minority laborers is risky due to their limited professional skills and discipline, which can easily lead to undesirable experiences for tourists.
Acknowledging the opinions and contributions of the units, Ms. Bach Thi Man, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, affirmed that in the coming time, the Department will continue to closely manage and accelerate the progress of planning and implementing the proposed important tourist areas, ensuring quality and adherence to the plan.
The planning for existing tourist areas and destinations needs to be reviewed, adjusted, and supplemented to ensure it aligns with the actual situation. The Department will focus on effectively implementing tourism development cooperation and linkage programs with localities and several provinces and cities nationwide that have strong tourism development; organizing connections between tourist tours and tourist markets, prioritizing domestic tourism while gradually expanding the exploitation of international tourist markets in the ASEAN region, through the Bo Y international border gate, and markets in Europe, Northeast Asia, and the Americas.
The unit focuses on cooperation and linkages with universities, colleges, and businesses to train local tourism human resources; prioritizing the development of local human resources and training necessary skills for people participating in community tourism, aiming to build Kon Tum province into an attractive destination in the eyes of tourists.
