(To Quoc) - The Kon Tum Provincial Ethnic Minority Culture and Tourism Week and Gong and Drum Festival is organized to contribute to preserving and honoring the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the area.
On October 31st, information from the People's Committee of Kon Tum province indicated that it had issued Decision No. 700/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the 5th Culture and Tourism Week and the 2nd Gong and Drum Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Kon Tum province, 2024.
According to the Decision, the Organizing Committee for the Culture and Tourism Week and the Gong and Drum Festival is chaired by Ms. Y Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kon Tum province; Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, is the Vice Chairman. Members include the heads of several provincial agencies and units, and the chairmen of the People's Committees of districts and cities.
The Organizing Committee of the Culture and Tourism Week and the Gong and Drum Festival is responsible for directing the comprehensive implementation of all contents and tasks related to the organization of the Culture and Tourism Week and the Gong and Drum Festival within its assigned functions and responsibilities.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province is the permanent agency of the Organizing Committee: It presides over and coordinates with relevant agencies, units and localities to advise and organize the implementation of tasks according to the plan; at the same time, it monitors, urges, proposes, and reports on the results of organizing the Culture and Tourism Week and the Gong and Drum Festival according to regulations...
According to the plan, the 5th Kon Tum Provincial Culture and Tourism Week and the 2nd Kon Tum Provincial Ethnic Minority Gong and Drum Festival in 2024 are expected to take place from December 11-14 in Kon Tum city and some other localities in the province.
This is a cultural and tourism activity aimed at preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values typical of the ethnic groups in Kon Tum province. It continues to honor and promote to domestic and international friends the potential for economic , cultural, and tourism development of Kon Tum province in the process of integration and development, contributing to preserving and honoring the national cultural identity, and contributing to the task of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.
The Kon Tum Culture and Tourism Week is expected to feature many unique activities such as: Exhibition space showcasing and promoting OCOP products and traditional culture; Kon Tum art photography exhibition; Street festival; Gong and drum festival of ethnic minorities; Performances and introductions of traditional festivals and cultural rituals; Gong tuning; Conference to promote tourism in Kon Tum province; Introduction, tours, and experiences of tourist destinations in Kon Tum province; Kon Tum culinary innovation competition; Football tournament for ethnic minority youth from 5 Central Highlands provinces…/.
