The strong increase in ship and cargo volumes shows the steady recovery and development of port-related economic activities.
The total number of ships and inland waterway vehicles passing through ports in the Ho Chi Minh City area reached 173,754, an increase of 10.59% over the same period in 2024. The highlight is the record growth of container cargo. The volume of containers throughput reached more than 16 million TEUs, equivalent to nearly 152 million tons. This is a very high increase, accurately reflecting the recovery and the huge demand for containerized import and export goods transportation.
Besides, the total volume of goods transported by sea vessels reached nearly 185 million tons, up 7.28% over the same period, and inland waterway vehicles reached nearly 75 million tons, up 12.21% over the same period.

The number of ships arriving at Ho Chi Minh City ports increased strongly in the first 9 months of 2025, showing the stability and sustainable development of the Ho Chi Minh City seaport system in the new period. With these positive results, Ho Chi Minh City seaport is expected to soon enter the Top 10 largest container ports in the world .
