Ho Chi Minh City leaders offer incense to commemorate heroic martyrs in Con Dao

On the morning of August 8, at Con Dao special zone, comrade Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, and a delegation came to offer flowers and incense to heroic martyrs at Hang Keo Cemetery, Hang Duong Cemetery, and Con Dao Temple.

The delegation included delegates attending the 1st Congress, term 2025-2030, of the Con Dao Special Zone Party Committee.

At Hang Duong Cemetery, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and delegates offered incense and flowers in respect to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation and reunification.

This place was once known as “hell on earth”, bearing the mark of the heroic revolutionary struggle history of the nation, where tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and patriotic compatriots were imprisoned and sacrificed; engraved with historical pages about the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, patriot Nguyen An Ninh, heroic martyr Vo Thi Sau...

Respectfully bowing before the souls of the heroic martyrs, the delegates expressed their sincere gratitude to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of martyrs, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and those who have silently devoted and sacrificed for today's independence.

At the same time, he expressed his determination to develop Con Dao in a green, clean, sustainable direction, preserving historical and spiritual values, building this place into an ecological, cultural and historical tourism center, worthy of the great sacrifices of our ancestors.

Hang Duong Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 2,000 revolutionary soldiers and patriots through many generations from 1862 to 1975. Hang Duong Cemetery has been ranked as a National Special Historical Relic.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and his delegation offered incense at Con Dao Temple, a place dedicated to commemorating the contributions of ancestors, heroic martyrs, compatriots and soldiers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation at the Con Dao Prison system - a place once known as "hell on earth" for 113 years.
