At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment presented a summary of the socio -economic development situation and proposed key priorities, breakthrough solutions, and recommendations for the future to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 14th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025. Accordingly, the areas of cooperation promotion include: human resource training; cooperation in science and technology; cooperation in implementing key socio-economic development programs of the province; and domestic and international cooperation. To achieve the goal of becoming a moderately developed province in the region and the country by 2025, the province has identified five key industry clusters and sectors: energy and renewable energy; high-quality tourism; processing and manufacturing industries; high-tech agriculture; construction and real estate business; and two driving forces for development: marine economy and urban economy. The core of development is people; the four breakthroughs include: enhancing competitiveness; perfecting the basic infrastructure; digital transformation, applying science and technology to management and production, and innovation; and developing human resources.
Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, delivered a speech at the working session.
During the meeting, representatives from Can Tho University introduced the university's traditions and strengths. Leaders from Ninh Thuan Vocational College, the Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented their potential, advantages, and development orientations for their respective sectors and fields, and expressed their desire for future cooperation, support, and experience sharing.
Concluding the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his pleasure at working and exchanging ideas with Can Tho University, one of the most prestigious universities both domestically and internationally. He further introduced the province's potential, advantages, and efforts in transforming the disadvantages of hot and windy weather into advantages for socio-economic development, and the province's joy at solving the difficult problem of water supply for production after the completion of the Tan My irrigation system. He hoped that Can Tho University would support the province in product packaging design for OCOP products, digital transformation (especially in healthcare and education), and tourism development. He assigned the Department of Planning and Investment as the focal point to promote and discuss cooperation with Can Tho University. Initially, it is necessary to focus on organizing a workshop on human resource training as soon as possible, leading to the signing of a cooperation agreement with Can Tho University in the near future.
