On November 17, Mr. Truong Quoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tien Ward, An Giang Province - said that the traditional festival commemorating the 262nd anniversary of the death of Mrs. Mac Mi Co (she died in 1763) and the 245th anniversary of the death of Mr. Mac Thien Tich (he died in 1780) this year has attracted a large number of people and tourists to Ha Tien.

People especially gathered at Binh San mountain to offer incense, commemorate and show gratitude for the contributions of the founder Mac Cuu, Mr. Mac Thien Tich and Mrs. Mac Mi Co (people call her Mrs. Nam).

The festival has created a unique and distinctive traditional cultural feature of the people and land of Ha Tien.

"The event is truly meaningful and demonstrates the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, and contributes to promoting the image of cultural tourism associated with spirituality in Ha Tien to tourists," said Mr. Hien.

The People's Committee of Ha Tien Ward said that this year's festival was organized by the locality for many days with exciting activities such as Chinese chess - human chess and martial arts; exhibitions promoting local tourism and cuisine ; amateur music and dance exchanges, and art music and dance programs serving the people and tourists.

"Every year when the festival of Lady Mac Mi Co comes, we return to Ha Tien to burn incense and pay tribute to her. When we come here, my family and I also visit many famous tourist attractions such as Mui Nai beach, Thach Dong, Da Dung mountain and eat many delicious typical dishes such as grilled chicken, bun ken, bok lo hong...", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - a tourist from Can Tho city - shared.

Mrs. Mac Mi Co is the youngest daughter of Mr. Mac Thien Tich and Mrs. Hieu Tuc Thai. People say that she is very filial to her parents and has left in everyone's hearts the image of a girl with a kind heart and compassion for people.

When she passed away, she was respected, worshiped, and offered incense by the people of Ha Tien and tourists from near and far, and became a local spiritual tourist destination.
