The opening ceremony of the 2025 SEA Games took place on the evening of December 9 at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok). Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn said that the event was prepared with the aim of creating a strong impression, combining advanced technology and Thai cultural identity to introduce the national image. The opening ceremony included many performances, conveying the host country's message and aiming for the "Green SEA Games - Net Zero" model.

This year’s torch lighting ceremony has been renewed in form, the ceremony brings together a series of famous artists and athletes such as Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek, K-pop artist BamBam (GOT7), two rappers Natthawut Srimok and Pitawat Pruksakit and singer Violette Wautier. In addition, 11 beauty queens from the pageant system managed by TPN will take on the role of leading the participating teams.

The opening ceremony was built under the theme “WE ARE ONE”, emphasizing the spirit of regional solidarity, common victory and the milestone of the SEA Games returning to Thailand after many years. 5 main performances combined elements of culture, sports, music and technology, aiming to set a new standard for Southeast Asian sports festivals.

According to updates from the Organizing Committee, 32 sets of medals will be awarded on December 10th. Among them, taekwondo is expected to bring home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at this year's Games.

Earlier this morning, December 9th, Nguyen Van Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, visited and encouraged the Vietnamese sports delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games.
