According to Travel and Leisure , there are even some mandatory dress codes that you need to follow when flying, otherwise you may be forced to leave the flight.
Open-toe shoes
If you're traveling to a destination with warm weather, wearing flip-flops or sandals on the plane can be comfortable, but you should consider it carefully.
Bobby Laurie, a travel expert and former flight attendant, said Carpets and areas under airplane seats are often not thoroughly cleaned and sanitized for a long time. Therefore, avoid wearing open-toed shoes. Also, always wear shoes when using the restroom because the liquid on the floor may not just be water.
Inappropriate clothing
Most airlines have the right to refuse boarding to passengers if they are wearing inappropriate clothing. The wording in the regulations is often vague, but usually refers to clothing that evokes vulgar feelings or offensive imagery.
If the airline deems your attire inappropriate, you may be asked to change. If you refuse, you may be forced to leave the flight.
Sleepwear
Everyone wants to be comfortable when flying, but since you're still in a public place, it's best not to wear pajamas to the airport and onto the plane.
Susan Fogwell, a former flight attendant with 22 years of experience, shared: "Wear loose, comfortable pants with an elastic waistband." The only exception is if you're flying business class and are given pajamas to wear during the flight, and you only need to change back before landing.
Swimwear
Hawaiian Airlines is one of the few airlines that publishes a clear dress code, specifically prohibiting swimwear. If you absolutely must wear swimwear on the flight, you can wear a light cover-up over it.
Wearing only one layer of clothing
You can never predict how the temperature will change on a plane. Therefore, wearing only one layer of clothing, whether it's a tank top or a thick sweater, isn't a good option. Bobby Laurie advises, "Lay layers so you can stay warm if it's cold, and take some off if it's hot."
Bulky metal jewelry
When traveling, keep bulky metal jewelry in your carry-on luggage. Never check any valuables in your checked baggage. You'll likely have to remove them at airport security, causing inconvenience not only for you but also for those queuing behind you.
Keep expensive watches in a protective case when traveling. If you wear an engagement ring, consider buying a fake ring to wear while traveling, in case it gets lost or stolen.
Perfumes and fragrances
Respect passengers who may be sensitive to scents; avoid using overly strong perfumes or fragrances. In a confined space like an airplane cabin, your favorite scent can easily spread and may bother others. Remember that not everyone shares your preferences, not to mention potential health issues.
