According to VTV Times , after a period of active negotiations, Vietnam Television (VTV) and pay TV units TV360, MyTV andFPT Play have reached an initial agreement on copyright fees for the VTV channel group.
With the goodwill of all parties, VTV has reconnected the signals of VTV channels on television services, helping viewers continue to watch quality programs on VTV channels, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
For units that have not yet reached an agreement, VTV does not have the necessary legal basis to maintain signal provision for the entire VTV channel package.
As recorded at 9:30 p.m., VTV2 and VTV3 reappeared on TV360 and MyTV platforms. VTV2 and VTV3 channels officially returned to FPT Play platform from January 23, 2025.
Previously, on January 16, on the FPT Play, TV360 and MyTV television platforms, VTV2 and VTV3 channels of VTV were no longer on the list. The reason given by the three platforms was that they had not yet reached an agreement with Vietnam Television.
On January 19, VTV informed: "The copyright fees that television service providers are paying to VTV do not reflect the true value that VTV's content brings to pay TV units."

VTV2 and VTV3 channels have appeared on TV360 and MyTV
VTV announced that since the end of November 2024, it has begun working and discussing a new cooperation model with pay-TV service providers. To date, many providers have reached agreements with VTV regarding cooperation in re-broadcasting their programs.
"The entire VTV channel package is still being maintained on national digital television platforms such as VTVgo, DVB-T2 system, as well as pay TV systems that have reached agreements with VTV" - VTV announced.
Regarding VTV2, it's a science, technology, and education channel, while VTV3 is a channel specializing in information and entertainment. The inability to watch these two channels affects both paid and free accounts.
A recent report by the Ministry of Information and Communications shows that in 2024, the number of pay-TV subscribers increased from 18.3 million in 2023 to 21.2 million in 2024, equivalent to a 14% increase.
Meanwhile, over-the-top (OTT) television service subscribers also recorded an impressive increase from 5.56 million to 7.4 million, a growth rate of 33%.
Service revenue (including VAT) is estimated at approximately VND 10,500 billion, equivalent to the same period last year.
As of December 2024, 36 enterprises have been granted licenses to provide pay TV services, of which 22 enterprises provide OTT TV services.
According to the assessment of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information - Ministry of Information and Communications, although the number of subscribers of both types of services has grown strongly, the revenue of the pay TV industry has only increased slightly.
In particular, revenue from OTT services has grown significantly, reaching nearly 1,700 billion VND, up 7% compared to 2023. This is a positive signal for the development of the internet television service industry, although the growth rate is still not equivalent to the explosion in the number of subscribers.
