Over the years, in addition to focusing on socio -economic development, Lung Niem commune (Ba Thuoc district) has also prioritized preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
The craft of brocade weaving is preserved and promoted by the people of Lung Niem commune.
Lan Ngoai village has 139 households and 521 inhabitants, mainly ethnic minorities. It is one of the exemplary villages in preserving the traditional cultural values of the Thai ethnic group in Lung Niem commune. Along with the Thai language used in daily communication, the traditional clothing of Thai women is frequently worn during festivals, holidays, and local political events. Many households in the village also preserve the traditional craft of brocade weaving. In 2014, Lan Ngoai village received support from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Women's Union in the form of industrial sewing machines, looms, and funding to help households restore and develop the brocade weaving craft. Thanks to this, the local brocade weaving craft has had the opportunity to develop. Currently, Lan Ngoai village has more than 50 female members engaged in brocade weaving, earning over 3 million VND per person per month.
Not only in Lan Ngoai village, but many women's association members in other villages of Lung Niem commune are also actively participating in preserving the traditional brocade weaving craft. Currently, Lung Niem commune has more than 200 women who know how to weave brocade. Those engaged in brocade weaving not only contribute to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values but also provide employment for more than 100 local workers.
Along with encouraging people to participate in preserving the traditional brocade weaving craft, Lung Niem commune also focuses on encouraging villages to establish clubs and performing arts groups to preserve ethnic cultural identity. Currently, the commune has established 3 clubs and 8 amateur performing arts groups. Through these clubs and groups, all members have been encouraged to collect folk cultural heritage of ethnic minorities; and to organize and stage folk songs and dances to entertain the people during holidays and festivals.
With the attention of the local Party committee and government, and the consensus of the people of Lung Niem commune, traditional cultural values are preserved and promoted. Many households in the commune still preserve and develop the craft of brocade weaving and live in traditional stilt houses. Traditional cultural forms, games, and performances are all preserved and promoted within the community. Many artisans in the commune actively participate in passing on the folk songs and dances of the Thai ethnic group to the younger generation. Schools in the commune always focus on incorporating the content of traditional ethnic minority culture education into their lessons and experiential activities for students.
Mr. Bui Van Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lung Niem Commune, said: Implementing the tourism development program, Ba Thuoc District has identified Pho Don village in Lung Niem Commune as a cultural tourism center to create a cultural tourism destination for visitors to explore and experience Pu Luong. This is an important condition for Lung Niem Commune to preserve and promote traditional cultural values associated with tourism development, create jobs, and increase income for the people. To achieve this, the commune continues to propagate and encourage people to actively preserve traditional cultural identity. It also provides partial funding to purchase equipment for cultural and artistic clubs. Encouraging households in the commune to preserve and promote the traditional brocade weaving craft and develop tourism... Through this, contributing to the preservation of traditional cultural identity, creating momentum to promote the "All people unite to build a cultured life" movement with widespread influence, and promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.
