Providing timely healthcare for the people.

In recent days, many free healthcare programs for people affected by the floods have been implemented in Tay Nha Trang ward. At Vinh Hiep and Ngoc Hiep Health Stations, a team of young doctors from Khanh Hoa General Hospital organized free medical examinations and dispensed free medicine to nearly 1,000 people in areas that were severely flooded, focusing on diseases such as high blood pressure, colds, respiratory infections, and skin conditions. In addition, the Provincial Children's Cultural Center and Vinmec Nha Trang International General Hospital implemented the "Accompanying Community Healthcare" program, providing free medical examinations for approximately 500 people and donating 450 family medicine kits to residents in the flooded areas.

Arriving early at the Vinh Hiep Health Station, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, from Tay Nha Trang ward, said that the recent floods had submerged his house in more than 1.5 meters of water. After the water receded, he had to clean his house in damp conditions for 5 days. Afterward, he suffered from a cough, nasal congestion, and fatigue. Upon learning that a team of doctors had come to the area, he came for an examination. “Besides the cough, nasal congestion, and fatigue, my hands and feet are very itchy. I hope the doctors will examine me and prescribe medicine to cure my illness,” Mr. Thanh said. Meanwhile, Ms. Huynh Thi Hong, who came for an examination at the Provincial Children's Cultural Palace, shared: “After the floods, I couldn't sleep at night. This morning, I took the opportunity to go for an examination to put my mind at ease. The doctors were dedicated, thorough, and examined me carefully. I was even given a family medicine kit containing various medications for some common ailments.”

Promoting a spirit of community service.

The swift intervention of medical staff from several hospitals helped people access local healthcare services and receive health care after the days of heavy rain and flooding.

Dr. Le Lam Quan, Specialist I and Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union at Khanh Hoa General Hospital, said: "31 doctors and medical staff from the hospital participated in the program to provide free medical examinations and medication to the people. Through the examinations, we observed that the majority of people suffered from respiratory, digestive, and dermatological diseases... This was due to prolonged exposure to polluted water and environments. In addition, many people with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes also came for examination. For patients with chronic diseases whose treatment was interrupted for a long time due to the floods, along with examinations and medication, we guided them to medical facilities for health check-ups.”

According to Dr. Phan Quoc Dung, Director of Vinmec Nha Trang International General Hospital, after the floods, the hospital coordinated with Tay Nha Trang ward to organize two rounds of free medical examinations and medication distribution for people in the severely flooded areas. A total of over 1,000 people received examinations. In addition to medical examinations, the hospital also donated 1,350 family medicine kits to residents and the local community. Each examination round involved approximately 65 doctors and medical staff. “After the floods, the demand for health check-ups was very high. At the examination points, we equipped ultrasound and electrocardiogram machines to provide more comprehensive health checks for the people. We hope that more medical facilities will join hands with local authorities to continue implementing this program to help people in areas severely affected by floods receive healthcare,” Dr. Dung shared.

After a natural disaster, when people are facing many difficulties, the timely presence of medical staff is very meaningful and practical, contributing to ensuring people's health so they can overcome the damage and quickly stabilize their lives.
