On the afternoon of May 19th, the Hanoi T&T Table Tennis Club held a ceremony to honor the athletes from their team who had achieved high results at the 32nd SEA Games. These athletes included Tran Mai Ngoc and Dinh Anh Hoang (gold medalists in the mixed team event) and Le Dinh Duc (bronze medalist in the men's team event).
Tran Mai Ngoc and Dinh Anh Hoang each received a reward of 250 million VND from their managing organization, T&T Group. Meanwhile, Le Dinh Duc received 50 million VND. In addition, the group's chairman, Mr. Do Quang Hien, also stated that several sponsors and partners will send additional rewards in cash and in kind to the athletes.
Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang received awards from the leaders of T&T Group.
In addition to the three athletes, the group's leaders also awarded prizes to the coaching staff of the Hanoi T&T table tennis team and the coaching staff of the Vietnamese national table tennis team. The total prize money announced at the ceremony was 1.15 billion VND.
At the 32nd SEA Games, Tran Mai Ngoc and Dinh Anh Hoang defeated the Singaporean pair, Clarance Zhe Yu Chew and Jian Zeng, to win the gold medal. This was a historic gold medal because it was the first time in 26 years that the table tennis team had achieved this feat in the mixed team event. Previously, this achievement was accomplished by two athletes, Vu Manh Cuong and Ngo Thu Thuy. Mr. Vu Manh Cuong is currently the coach of Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang at the Hanoi T&T table tennis team.
At the ceremony, Chairman Hien shared: “ I would like to congratulate and express my gratitude to the three table tennis players of the Vietnamese national table tennis team and Hanoi T&T Club for achieving this historic and proud accomplishment. You have brought glory to the nation.”
I would also like to express my gratitude for the attention of the Party, the State, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the leaders of various departments, and the sacrifices of the Hanoi table tennis team's coaching staff. Coaches Mạnh Cường and Đặng Thành are not only teachers but also like fathers and even mothers, always caring about the professional development and spiritual well-being of the children .”
Speaking at the awards ceremony, athlete Tran Mai Ngoc expressed her determination to strive even harder to improve herself and achieve the best results in upcoming competitions.
