On September 5th, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy held its Opening Ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc, the university's leadership, faculty and staff, and thousands of new undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tri Thuc emphasized the special significance of the new school year as it takes place at a time when the whole country is celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day, the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Education, and the Politburo 's Resolution 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.
He advised the students: "To become a doctor, you must learn throughout your life. Study and conduct scientific research to contribute to the glory of our country's medical field. To go far, we must go together – unity and sharing will be the foundation for sustainable development."

The Deputy Minister also commended the school's efforts in leading the way in innovating the medical doctor training program according to competency standards, establishing additional member schools, and expanding specialties in line with modern medical trends.
The Ministry of Health expects the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy to continue developing into a leading center for advanced medical training, research, and application, playing a pivotal role in the national healthcare workforce training system.

But with the support of our teachers, the sharing of our friends, and our belief in ourselves, we will have the courage to overcome all obstacles and become true medical professionals."
