Russia supports rescue boats and necessities for flood-hit areas in Hue

Vietnamese authorities have received a 29-ton shipment of emergency aid, including rescue boats, tents and necessities, sent by the Russian Government to help people in Hue City overcome the consequences of floods.

This morning, October 30, at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) received an emergency international aid shipment from the Government of the Russian Federation for people in Hue City affected by floods.

The aid includes: 58 rescue boats and work boats, 1,000 sets of dishes, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 sets of bedding, 55 tents and a large quantity of canned food, with a total weight of about 29 tons.

The shipment was delivered to Noi Bai airport at 6:35 a.m. on October 30 by special aircraft number SUM 9121 of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation.

At the handover ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko handed over the above aid goods to Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention.

A representative of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention informed that, according to plan, after receiving the goods, the shipment will be transferred to Hue City today (October 30) for the locality to distribute to people in disaster areas.

Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko deeply sympathized with the Government and people of Vietnam about the losses and damages caused by recent floods in the Northern and Central regions, and said he would continue to accompany Vietnam in natural disaster prevention work.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, thanked the Government and people of the Russian Federation for their valuable support. At the same time, he affirmed that the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention will take on the role of coordinating and promptly transferring the aid to Hue City so that the locality can deliver it to people affected by natural disasters.
