Following the completion of the demolition of the Shark's Jaw building, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward ( Hanoi ) proceeded to expand, renovate, and improve the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square area, which covers more than 1.4 hectares.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's observations on the morning of September 10th, after completing phase 1 of the renovation and beautification project, the square area has taken on a new, more spacious and airy appearance than before.

At the site of the former Shark Fin building in Hoan Kiem ward, a large LED screen has been installed to disseminate important information, events, and major national holidays, while also promoting the culture, tourism , and image of the people of the capital city.

Along Dinh Tien Hoang street, it was observed that workers were still covering the interiors with tarpaulins to continue the renovation and refurbishment work.

Along Dinh Tien Hoang Street, authorities have arranged potted plants and stone benches to form a "mobile barrier" (which can be moved close to the edge of the sidewalk on weekends).
After renovation, the Dinh Tien Hoang street area also dedicates most of its space to pedestrians along the square, while retaining a section of the lane next to Ho Guom Lake for cars and motorbikes to circulate.

Hoan Kiem Ward (Hanoi) has also relocated the parking lot on Dinh Tien Hoang Street and resurfaced the road.
All these steps have helped to expand and improve the space of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square compared to before the renovation.

These items are part of phase 1 of the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square renovation project. In the future, the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee will continue to implement phase 2 of the square renovation and beautification project as directed by the Hanoi City People's Committee.

Specifically, in phase 2, authorities will study solutions for developing the underground space around the square.
At the same time, the renovation of the first layer of buildings along the street surrounding the square will continue, along with a comprehensive improvement of the technical infrastructure to match the activities of Hoan Kiem Lake, which is a special national historical site.
In addition, Hoan Kiem ward is also expected to add urban facilities suitable for the area's functions.
