After 10 months of construction, the passenger terminal stylized from the lotus image of Long Thanh airport has taken shape. The project is built on 376,000m2, designed with two separate departure and arrival elevations, including 1 ground floor and 3 upper floors, the roof is 45.55m high, and 40 parking positions are arranged for aircraft. The project is expected to be built in 39 months and completed in 2026. The passenger terminal project (package 5.10, part of component project 3, Long Thanh airport phase 1) started construction at the end of August 2023. The project has a total investment of more than 35,000 billion VND, when completed, it will serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation, so far, the basic bidding packages have met the set schedule. The contractor has also gathered, installed and operated many machines and equipment to speed up the progress of the items. At the passenger terminal project, contractors mobilized nearly 3,300 personnel and more than 1,100 pieces of equipment for construction. After nearly 10 months of "3 shifts, 4 crews" construction, the passenger terminal has completed all reinforced concrete columns and beams on the first floor; reinforced concrete beams on the second floor have reached 76% and reinforced concrete beams on the third floor are being constructed. The construction progress of the passenger terminal is 20 days ahead of the rough construction schedule and 10 days ahead of the overall contract schedule. In the coming time, ACV and contractors will continue to speed up the construction of the remaining structures. It is expected that 100% of the 2nd floor beams will be completed by the end of June and 100% of the 3rd floor beams of the terminal will be completed by the end of July. According to ACV, the fabrication of the roof steel structure is underway to begin installation in August. This item is about 1 month ahead of schedule compared to the approved plan. ACV is also coordinating with the contractor to inspect factories and order equipment to be installed in the terminal to meet the construction schedule in the coming time. Mr. Evren Isit Bingol, head of the Vietur contractor consortium, said: "During the rainy season, the contractor encountered some difficulties but still tried to overcome them to increase the construction progress. I know this is a national key project, playing an important role in the transportation industry, so the contractors are building many plans to ensure safety and quality of the construction site. The purpose is to ensure progress and quality." Over the past 10 months, the consortium of contractors mobilized more than 5,430 officers, engineers, workers and 1,496 machines and equipment to construct packages (5.10, 4.6 and 6.12) of component project 3, Long Thanh airport phase 1. At the airport passenger terminal project, the Vietur joint venture mobilized nearly 3,300 workers and 950 pieces of construction equipment to the construction site. Of these, there were more than 100 female workers working at this large construction site. The construction scaffolding system is completely newly manufactured to ensure quality and safety for the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal project. The joint venture contractor for the Long Thanh airport terminal construction requires strict safety standards during the construction process, especially for large projects with a large number of workers and machines working at the same time. The construction area is always strung with warning ropes to limit the area and signs saying "danger area - no entry". In the runway and taxiway category, contractors mobilized 1,700 personnel and 350 pieces of equipment with 50 construction teams. The runway is expected to be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 2025. To date, the runway category has exceeded the contract schedule by 2 months. Mr. Le Van Tien (ACC Company - the contractor of package 4.6), said that the joint venture contractor has completed the foundation and M150 concrete layer of the runway structure. The cement concrete surface was also tested from the beginning of May, closely following the set schedule. For the runway structure, the foundation reached 62.22% of the M150 cement concrete layer. According to Mr. Tien, from now until April 30, 2025, the construction unit will mainly spread concrete, build drainage systems, lighting, etc. There are still many items that need to be implemented, so contractors will implement programs, plans, focus on forces, equipment, and personnel to achieve the set goals. Long Thanh International Airport ( Dong Nai province) is a national key project with a capital scale of about 5 billion USD (about 110 trillion VND). This will be the largest airport in Vietnam in the future with an area of 5,364 hectares and a capacity to serve up to 100 million passengers/year. The project is divided into 3 construction phases: Phase 1 (2021-2025); Phase 2 (2025-2030); Phase 3 (2035-2040).
