Specifically, from September 26, 2025 to October 29, 2025, the Flight Calibration Center has completed all the contents of the flight calibration and flight method evaluation flights at Long Thanh International Airport. This is an activity that has both technical significance and special legal value, deciding the overall acceptance of the project, and at the same time affirming the professional capacity and effective coordination spirit of the Vietnamese aviation industry in the roadmap of deep international integration.
In particular, from October 26, 2025 to October 29, 2025, the phase 2 inspection and calibration flights will focus on synchronously testing the capacity of modern surveillance systems and equipment, Primary/Secondary Radar (PSR/SSR) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) systems installed at Long Thanh airport, as well as flights to evaluate the capacity and monitoring capabilities of the systems on both ends of runway 1 (05R/23L) have been completed.
Experts from the Czech Republic Air Navigation Academy, the partner implementing and performing the calibration flight at Long Thanh International Airport, highly appreciated the international cooperation environment, the systematic process, the spirit of learning and the technical level of the Vietnamese team of experts. The required standards of the Radar and ADS-B systems all meet or exceed the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Europe, meeting all the conditions for commercial exploitation at the regional and international levels.
In addition, during the entire period of the second phase of the calibration test flight, the flight control coordination plans between key units such as the Southern Air Traffic Management Company, the Air Traffic Flow Management Center, the Aviation Information Information Center, the Aviation Meteorological Center, the Long Thanh Project Management Board, and the 370th Air Division were ensured to comply with the signed contract minutes before the flight.
Equipment, personnel, flight operations plans, and emergency response plans are carried out with absolute safety in airspace with high flight density as well as strict requirements on separation, time and frequency of continuous operations in the Ho Chi Minh City FIR.
According to the Prime Minister's Decision and the direction of the Ministry of Construction , the goal of the Long Thanh International Airport project phase 1 is "by December 19, 2025, basically complete, ensure standards and conditions for inauguration according to regulations", the work of flight inspection, calibration and evaluation of flight methods at Long Thanh airport to meet the proposed roadmap.
This work aims to fully meet international standards on safety and operational efficiency, and is also a key, mandatory technical task before the airport officially goes into commercial operation, expected in 2026.
