The theme for 2025 chosen by the World Customs Organization is "Customs Authorities Committed to Service: Efficiency, Security and Prosperity".
On January 24th, the General Department of Customs announced that the World Customs Organization (WCO) has issued a notice regarding International Customs Day on January 26th, 2025, with the theme: “Customs Authorities Committed to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity.” The aim is to call on member customs authorities to demonstrate a positive commitment to implementing WCO tools and translating them into concrete actions aimed at facilitating trade, ensuring supply chain security, and promoting sustainable economic development.

Through this theme, the WCO calls on its members to promote the implementation of specific activities for each objective, such as efficiency targets linked to the modernization of customs procedures, the application of digital transformation, the development of automated data exchange mechanisms, and the strengthening of the gate-top system to facilitate and reduce customs clearance time. It also calls for promoting data-driven procedures and the use of modern technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data to support decision-making and risk management.
The objectives include ensuring security and enhancing supply chain security through the implementation of the Framework for Security and Trade Facilitation Standards. This includes preventing the illicit trafficking of prohibited goods such as small arms, precursors, explosives, nuclear materials, and strategic items. It also involves combating money laundering and preparing for emergency situations.
The goal is to promote prosperity, accelerate reforms, and support business operations, especially for startups and new businesses, by providing comprehensive information and assistance in market entry. This includes ensuring effective tax management and collection, strengthening an integrated revenue management system, enhancing review and evaluation processes, updating knowledge on trade trends for customs officials, and providing complete information to facilitate businesses' compliance with tax regulations. The aim is to promote sustainable economic development, contributing to a green economy, environmentally friendly products, and minimizing environmental impact, in line with the government's sustainable development goals. Furthermore, comprehensive policies and tools will be developed to address the challenges faced by various stakeholders, ensuring inclusiveness and fairness, taking into account the practical operations of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with particular attention to diversity and gender equality.
