(PLVN) - On the occasion of celebrating Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), at Yang Bay Tourist Park (Nha Trang), the contest " Food Festival - Delicious dishes from ostrich meat" took place.
The program offers visitors a unique culinary experience featuring ostrich meat as the main ingredient, a highly nutritious food that is becoming increasingly popular.
The "Culinary Festival - Delicious Dishes from Ostrich Meat" competition attracted the participation of 15 teams with 60 amateur chefs from Khatoco's affiliated units and partner organizations. Within 90 minutes, each team of four members prepared three dishes with ostrich meat as the main ingredient.
The judges of the competition were leading chefs and culinary experts in Khanh Hoa, such as: Master of Culinary Arts Nguyen Van Hoang - lecturer in food processing techniques at Nha Trang Tourism College; Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Tuyet - Vice President of the World MasterChef Association in Vietnam, Director of HT Chef Culinary Vocational Training Center; and Mr. Do Thanh Trung - Head Chef of Amiana Resort, Vice President of the Nha Trang Professional Chefs Association.
The festival not only provides an exciting platform for teams to create innovative and nutritious dishes, but also offers visitors the opportunity to discover unique flavors from these nutrient-rich ingredients.
At the festival, visitors can enjoy delicious and nutritious dishes made from ostrich meat; experience cooking with competing teams , and create their own unique dishes from ostrich meat. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the ostrich farming process – the largest bird on the planet – and the tanning process and production of fashion products from ostrich leather.
At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes, 3 consolation prizes, and 2 special prizes including the best presentation and the most beautifully decorated dish, with a total prize value of 40 million VND.
Ostrich meat is hailed as the "Clean Food of the 21st Century," offering numerous health benefits. According to a nutritional analysis report by the National Institute of Nutrition, 100g of ostrich meat contains 22.03g of protein, 0.52g of fat, and 26.02mg of cholesterol.
Ostrich meat is low in fat, has a higher protein content than chicken, beef, and pork, and a much lower cholesterol content, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, overweight, and obesity.
In addition, ostrich meat is rich in iron, which is very beneficial for pregnant women and people with anemia. Ostrich meat is also suitable for the elderly, helping to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and strengthen the body's immune system.
