Quickly summarize the target
At noon on June 17th, the family of Mr. Tran Thanh Loc (63 years old, residing in Hamlet 24, Ea Ning Commune, Cu Kuin District) gathered to clear their coffee garden in search of a weapon, suspecting that the suspect who attacked the commune's People's Committee office in Dak Lak might have left it behind after Mr. Loc apprehended him.
Mr. Loc recounted that on the morning of June 11th, residents learned that police and military forces were pursuing a group of suspects who had attacked the Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur commune People's Committee offices (Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province) and fled to the village. Without being told, the elderly and women closed their doors and stayed inside their houses for safety, while the men and young people prepared machetes, sticks, and clubs to support the authorities.
In the cornfield of Mr. Loc's neighbor, riot police and local residents discovered a group of about 5-6 suspects hiding and surrounded them. Shortly afterward, 2 suspects were arrested, and 1 surrendered.
Mr. Tran Thanh Loc recounted the process of subduing and arresting the suspect.
“ According to initial information, the group that fled to the village consisted of 5-6 people, but only 3 were apprehended so far. I suspect they are still hiding in my garden or another garden in the village. At 4 PM on June 11th, my son-in-law and I took knives and went to the coffee garden to check if any suspects were still hiding. While checking the fence bordering the neighboring house, my son and I discovered signs that someone had knocked down the fence to enter our garden ,” Mr. Loc recounted.
Sure enough, a few meters from the trampled fence, Mr. Loc and his son came face-to-face with the man wearing camouflage pants and a hood pulled down, hiding in a coffee bush.
“ I told my son-in-law to crouch low to search because the coffee and pepper plants were quite dense. Just a few steps from the trampled fence, I bent down to part the coffee plants and came face-to-face with a man wearing camouflage pants, a T-shirt, and a hood pulled down. Our faces were only about a hand's width apart, so close I could hear his breathing. In that situation, I grabbed his collar with my right hand, held a knife to his neck with my left, and shouted, 'Stay still! If you resist, you'll be taken down!' ” Mr. Loc recounted the moment he confronted and subdued the suspect.
Immediately afterwards, Mr. Loc and his son-in-law took off their shirts, tied the suspect up, and brought him out to the yard. “ I tore my shirt, and my son-in-law quickly helped tie the suspect’s hands to mine to lead him out to the yard. To prevent him from escaping, I went ahead, my son-in-law followed, and I declared that if he tried to run away, he would be killed. The suspect kept begging for mercy, repeatedly saying, ‘I was wrong, please forgive me, ’” Mr. Loc recalled.
After escorting the suspect out to the yard, Mr. Loc and his son received assistance from villagers who helped subdue him, preventing him from escaping, and handed him over to the police.
“ My father and I continued to check the garden and discovered a bayonet, several bullets, and an empty ration bag at another coffee tree. All of these were handed over to the authorities shortly afterwards ,” Mr. Loc said.
According to Mr. Loc, taking advantage of the sunny weather today, his family continued clearing the garden to search for any remaining weapons left behind by the perpetrators. " We found some bullets, so I suspect they might have discarded the guns around here ," Mr. Loc stated.
The coffee tree in Mr. Loc's garden, where the suspect was hiding, was apprehended.
The entire village joined the hunt for the suspects.
Mr. Nguyen Manh The (46 years old, Head of the Farmers' Association of Hamlet 23, Ea Ning Commune) said that at around 8:00 AM on June 11th, he and others were working in the fields when they heard a series of gunshots and the sound of running footsteps. Immediately afterwards, after being informed by the police that they were pursuing the group of suspects who attacked the commune's People's Committee office, the villagers immediately gathered to provide assistance.
“ The group of suspects scattered through the coffee plantations, with the police and military pursuing them relentlessly. I and the villagers were familiar with the terrain, so we used sticks and knives to help guide them in the pursuit. From the morning of June 11th to June 13th, the men and boys in the village worked alongside the police and military to chase and surround the suspects ,” Mr. The recounted.
Guided by local residents, the pursuing forces launched a continuous sweep, forcing the group of suspects to abandon their guns, knives, and backpacks and flee. Some suspects were apprehended by the police and local residents when they reached the outskirts of the village.
" In recent days, local residents have continued to search for and seize some weapons that this group abandoned in the coffee plantation, and handed them over to the police ," Mr. The said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh, head of Hamlet 24, Ea Ning commune, recounted that at around 9:00 AM on June 11th, the suspects arrived in the hamlet and were spotted by some villagers working in their fields. These villagers called her to report the incident. Based on the information from the villagers, Ms. Vinh promptly reported it to the police force for arrest.
“ When the villagers learned that the suspects had hidden all their weapons, they immediately called on each other to surround and apprehend them. Right behind my garden, two suspects who were hiding were arrested on the morning of June 11th. After that, the villagers in Hamlet 24 continued the pursuit, surrounded and apprehended one suspect, and handed him over to the authorities, ” Ms. Vinh said.
The backpack and machete that the suspect left behind in the coffee plantation were found by residents of Ea Ning on the morning of June 17th.
Speaking about the solidarity of the people in supporting the police and military forces, Ms. Vinh said that to prevent the group from returning to attack, the people of Hamlet 24 instructed the elderly and children to stay inside their houses, locking their doors carefully, and absolutely no one was allowed to go outside. All the young and healthy people armed themselves with knives, machetes, sticks, etc., and cooperated with the authorities in the sweep. Hundreds of people searched every coffee plantation, ditch, stream, and bush, helping the police to arrest several more suspects.
" This morning, the locals continued their search and found the backpack and machete the suspect had left behind in the coffee plantation. They brought them here to hand over to the police ," Ms. Vinh said.
