Artists from Busan Theater Association (Korea) exchange with Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater

On the morning of October 23rd, the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association welcomed artists from the Busan Theatre Association (South Korea) for an exchange in Ho Chi Minh City. Director Ton That Can, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association, welcomed the artists and introduced the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre.

Earlier, on October 22nd, People's Artist and director Tran Ngoc Giau, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, welcomed the delegation and introduced them to the activities of professional theaters in Ho Chi Minh City. He also welcomed the artists from the Busan Theater Association (South Korea) who will return to Vietnam in November to participate in the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024.

People's Artist My Uyen - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre - introduced the ritual of lighting incense before the ancestral altar to the artists of the Busan Theatre Association (South Korea) and gave a brief overview of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Theatre.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association wishes to strengthen its relationship with the Busan Theatre Association (South Korea) to promote, introduce, and organize exchange performances between the two countries. Ho Chi Minh City invites Korean artists to the city to participate in the festival, and the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association will travel to Busan, South Korea in the near future to perform, exchange experiences, and share theatrical activities between the two cities," said People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau.

In 1996, People's Artist and director Tran Ngoc Giau staged the play "Stepping Over the Curse" and took it to Busan (South Korea) to participate in the theater festival.

As part of the activities of the Korean artists' delegation in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre performed an excerpt from "Tình lá diêu ​​bông" (The Love of the Wildflower) by People's Artist My Uyen, artist Quoc Thinh, and artist Nguyen Hong Dao.

On the evening of October 23rd, a delegation of Korean artists will watch the play "Comrade" (written by Le Thu Hanh, directed by People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau) at the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre.

The Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre presented commemorative gifts to artists from the Busan Theatre Association (South Korea).

From October 24th, 12 artists from the Korean delegation will interact with the Trinh Kim Chi Theatre, rehearsing the classic play "Romeo and Juliet" directed by Lee Jeong Nam - President of the Association.

After watching a segment of "The Love of the Wildflower," the Korean artists were very impressed. Although they didn't fully understand the language, the body language, music , and acting, characteristic of the 5B small stage, allowed them to grasp the story. In response to the artists' enthusiasm, two actors, Sung Min Yang and Paek Kyu Jin, performed a short excerpt.

People's Artist My Uyen, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre, expressed her desire to further strengthen the relationship and exchange with the Busan Theatre Association (South Korea), with the aim of bringing plays featuring artists from both countries to perform in Ho Chi Minh City and South Korea.

Actors Sung Min Yang and Paek Kyu Jin performed a short excerpt at the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre.

Also participating in this exchange program were directors Yang Sung Min, Kang In Jeong, and Kim Dong Kyu; screenwriter Park Yong Hee; theater director Shim Mi Ran; production planner Choi Ji Hye; and actors Nam Tae In, Baek Kyu Jin, Em Ju Ha, and Jo Han Beol…

Representing the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Theatre were artists including: Meritorious Artist Hanh Thuy, director Vu Tran, and actors Quoc Thinh, Nguyen Hong Dao, Huynh Ngan, Huynh Nhu, Phuong Tram, Tuyet Oanh, Minh Duc, Hong Cong, etc.

On the evening of October 27th, the Korean delegation will watch the folk play "12 Midwives" by the IDECAF Theatre.
