To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), from early morning, people from all over, wearing red shirts with yellow stars, flocked to Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and other locations to capture moments of this special occasion in Hanoi .
Today (October 10th) marks the Liberation Day of Hanoi – a glorious milestone in the history of nation-building and national defense of the Vietnamese people. This year's 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi is an opportunity for every citizen to reflect on the glorious historical journey, the growth, and the development of Hanoi.
According to our reporter's observations, thousands of people had gathered at Ba Dinh Square since 5 am to attend the flag-raising ceremony on the special anniversary of the capital city.
The flag-raising ceremony was held solemnly in the presence of the people.
People who came here wore shirts with the red flag and yellow star and carried the national flag to show their national pride.
At the Ho Guom pedestrian street, many people wearing red shirts with the yellow star flag enthusiastically checked in with the national flag.
Many people wore traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) and took to the streets to sing, expressing their pride and joy on Liberation Day.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thoan (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) shared: “Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi. My friends and I arrived at Hoan Kiem Lake at 5 am. Before heading out, we had to wake up at 4 am to prepare ourselves mentally, physically, and in our attire to celebrate the anniversary of Liberation Day.”

Many people traveled hundreds of kilometers overnight to Hanoi to celebrate the anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
Mr. Vu Van Dinh (76 years old) said, "Today, I traveled with my relatives and comrades from Hai Duong at 4 am, covering hundreds of kilometers to Hanoi to relive wartime memories in the capital. I was an Air Defense and Air Force soldier stationed in Hanoi in 1972. Today, I came here with my relatives and comrades to reminisce about the past and celebrate Liberation Day. When I came here, memories flooded back, reminding me of my dear comrades. For me, today is a very sacred and proud day."
The mural art space on Phung Hung Street attracts a large number of locals and tourists.
People happily took the opportunity to take photos with the national flag on Phung Hung Street.
Everyone was happy and proud on the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
