Ho Chi Minh City residents still find it difficult to buy gold online because they keep running out of turns.

According to a survey by Lao Dong newspaper, in recent days, even though the four state-owned commercial banks, including Agribank , Vietcombank, VietinBank, and BIDV, and Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) have switched from direct gold sales to online sales, many people are still in a situation where they cannot buy gold even with money.

Some people say that buying in person was already difficult, but ordering online is even harder because the number of registrations is overwhelming, and the system fills up all available slots within minutes of going on sale.

Ms. Tran Nha Quyen (an office worker in District 3) said that after hearing the news that the government allowed online gold sales, she tried to place an order for several days but only received the message "The store has reached its transaction limit, please choose another store."

"Previously, I tried buying gold directly from a store but was unsuccessful. Now I'm trying to order online but I can't buy any either," added Ms. Nha Quyen.

It's not just Ms. Quyen who's in this situation; many others are facing the same predicament: "Even with money, you can't buy gold."

"The sale started at 9 AM, and I was already on the website waiting until before 9 AM to enter my information, but the system was overloaded. I had to re-enter it many times before I could submit it, only to receive a notification that all transactions had been processed," shared Mr. Hoang Tuan.

The leaders of these banks all stated that selling gold online aims to avoid the long queues that have occurred recently. Currently, all four state-owned commercial banks and SJC are limiting the amount of gold customers can buy, allowing each customer to purchase only one tael of gold and only selling online.

Banks announce the time to register to buy gold online on their information pages from Monday to Friday morning every week, except holidays. Payment and receiving gold at the point of sale is from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm on the day of registration. Banks will cancel the registration information if the customer is 30 minutes late from the appointment to receive gold.
