According to technology website Android Authority, a new analysis shows that tech giant Google is developing a video creation feature, which may be integrated into its Gemini Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool in an upcoming update.
According to an analysis of the source code from version 16.6.23 of the Google app, the code files contain multiple references to “videogen” along with several related command strings, suggesting a high possibility that this is an AI video generation feature.
Google already has a video creation tool called Google Vids, but it is not a generative AI system. Google Vids supports users from idea generation, script writing, layout design to editing, dubbing... If integrated into Gemini, this system can become more powerful and convenient.
This means users can easily create simple videos from text or images, similar to how other AI video creation tools like RunwayML and Pika Labs are doing.
The video creation feature in Gemini has not yet been officially launched, and Google has not confirmed a release date. But signals in the source code show that Google is pushing the development of the technology.
If implemented, this could be a notable milestone in making Gemini more comprehensive, opening up many new creative possibilities for users.
According to technology experts, integrating live video creation capabilities into Gemini will help Google compete with leading businesses in the field of AI video such as ChatGPT and provide users with an effective and useful creative tool.
Over the past few years, Google has been adding new features to its Gemini AI engine. Previously, Google has launched many upgrades that help increase context, improve file processing, and connect across applications.
