The initiative comes as Accenture is reinventing itself to adapt to the AI boom and advise businesses adopting the technology, the Financial Times reported on November 30.
Innovation for the new era
The term “reinventors” was born out of a major restructuring announced in June at Accenture.
The restructuring has merged strategy, consulting, creative, technology and operations into a single unit called “Reinvent Services.” Accenture CEO Julie Sweet has said AI is the company’s strongest bet right now.
CEO Sweet then adopted the term and popularized it more widely throughout the company. A source familiar with the company said Accenture had built a test version of its internal HR website that labeled employees as “reinventors” instead of “workers.”
Accenture said its ambition is to become its clients' "leading reinvention partner" by helping them adopt AI tools.
The group's executives insist that employees will have to leave if they cannot be retrained to adapt to the AI era.
"What we're going to do is make it easier to bring those solutions, integrate data and AI, so we can really scale across our entire customer base and go into new markets with innovative consulting," CEO Julie Sweet told CNBC.
Not just change the name?
By renaming a segment of employees as Accenture did, companies can use language to shape corporate culture as well as build corporate and employer branding.
However, "reinvention" is not just a figure of speech, but also requires businesses to change their mindset and continuously innovate if they do not want to be left behind, especially in the AI era.
In other words, businesses are forced to truly reinvent themselves, as well as renew their thinking and operating methods if they do not want to fall into the situation of "new bottle, old wine".
"Organizations must constantly reinvent themselves, as start-ups grow faster and find more efficient and cost-effective ways of operating. If we do not adapt, the entire business will face risks, both in terms of competitiveness and survival," said Philippos Soseilos, CEO and Chairman of PwC Cyprus.
He noted that AI software is rapidly changing the way people work, thereby becoming a tool to help improve productivity and decision-making capabilities in organizations.
It is AI that has created the difference between new ways of working and traditional ways of working, as well as opened a new era that forced companies to innovate and redesign the way they work.
Meanwhile, Mr. John Chambers - CEO of Cisco Technology Company - defines "reinvention" as rethinking everything, from target market, products, to how businesses create differences and approach the market, according to Business Insider magazine.
"Reinvent yourself every year, if you don't want to be left behind. Most leaders don't reinvent themselves. In my opinion, as a leader in the AI era, you have to reinvent yourself every year," Mr. Chambers sent a strong message to executives in the AI field.
Explaining his point, Mr. Chambers said that AI is operating at an extremely fast speed and is many times more effective. This means that businesses will succeed and fail faster than ever. The Cisco executive concluded: "Not changing means you are not taking advantage of the power of AI."
Reinvention is the new reality
According to data from the World Economic Forum, 95% of businesses participating in the survey said they had carried out at least two major transformations and reinventions in the period 2021 - 2024. Of these, 61% had carried out at least four major transformations.
"One thing we have to keep in mind is that the pace of this change can be very fast, even faster than previous technological transformations," Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said, emphasizing that the process of reinvention always comes with responsibility.
