Nguyen Phuong Anh won first prize in the "Hanoi Singing Contest 2025".

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - At the age of 20, Nguyen Phuong Anh - a student at the Vietnam National Academy of Music - won first prize in the "Hanoi Singing Contest 2025" in the classical music category with her powerful voice and skillful technique.

On the evening of December 9th, the final round of the Hanoi Singing Contest 2025 at the Ho Guom Theater concluded. Among the outstanding contestants, Nguyen Phuong Anh (born in 2004, from Hung Yen province) made a strong impression by winning first prize in the classical music category.

Prior to her success in the domestic competition, she won first prize in the Qingyin Award - Youth Music Festival 2024 (a search for young musical talents in China) in the folk music category.

In the final round, Phuong Anh chose the song "Four Seasons of Love ," a new composition by musician Tran Manh Hung. The song was technically challenging, especially the high notes which required finesse to maintain the chamber music feel while ensuring clear lyrics.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper, Phuong Anh said she was drawn to the emotional depth, discipline, and refined beauty of classical music, a genre that demands seriousness, perseverance, and stage presence. This very appeal led her to pursue it despite her young age and the pressures she faced.

Speaking about the song "Four Seasons of Love ," Phuong Anh confided: "I love this song because it's a song I wanted to dedicate to my father." She also expressed her gratitude to her father, who has always been a "guide and supporter" on her artistic journey.

Phuong Anh's genuine emotion, combined with her polished vocal technique, helped her shine on stage and win first prize (tied for two first prizes) in the chamber music category.

She knows how to transform family memories, parental love, and personal experiences into emotional anchors, infusing energy into each lyric. By drawing on genuine emotion as her strength, Phuong Anh easily "opens her voice," frees her breath, and conquers high notes that require technique and inner strength, thus completing an impressive performance.

This victory is not only the result of persistent effort but also a profound tribute to her family. Speaking of her mother, Phuong Anh emotionally shared: “My mother has always silently watched over me, worrying about me every step of the way. Her love and sacrifice are the greatest source of strength that has allowed me to stand here today.”

Besides the support from her family, she also expressed her gratitude to her teachers, Meritorious Artists Lan Anh and To Nga, who guided her from vocal technique to performance style and costumes, creating a solid foundation for her shining moments on stage.

With the prize money of 100 million VND, after fulfilling her 10% tax obligations, Phuong Anh said she will donate half to support people in disaster-stricken areas and the other half to help disadvantaged people in her hometown.

Along with Phuong Anh, the first prize in the light music category went to Nguyen Thuy Hai Anh. The winner of the Hanoi Singing Contest 2025 was Dao Phuong Chi, who successfully performed two songs: "Dak Rong River in Spring" and "People of Hanoi".
