FIRST PROVINCIAL FARMERS' ASSOCIATION CONGRESS, TERM 2025-2030: Farmers participate in building a rapidly and sustainably developing province.

Today (December 11th), the first Provincial Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (VFA), for the 2025-2030 term, officially opened. The Congress will vote to approve the Resolution for the 2025-2030 term; announce the decision of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association appointing the Executive Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association for the first term, 2025-2030; and designate the delegation to attend the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association.

During the 2023-2025 period, the Provincial Farmers' Association (FA) made significant strides in strengthening its organization and supporting farmers, affirming the leading role of farmers in promoting agriculture, rural economy , and building new rural areas. This effectively reflects the implementation of policies and guidelines, while also demonstrating the adaptability, creativity, and determination for innovation of the province's farmers.

Promoting the leading role of farmers

According to the Provincial Farmers' Association, during the 2023-2025 period, the associations at all levels have effectively fulfilled their role in uniting farmers and implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on " agriculture , farmers, and rural areas," contributing to the successful achievement of the province's socio-economic development goals.

Notably, in building a civilized and comprehensively developed peasantry, all levels of the Farmers' Association always focus on raising political awareness, legal knowledge, community responsibility, national pride, and the aspiration for self-improvement among farmers.

At the same time, the association mobilizes and guides its members and farmers to adopt a civilized lifestyle, build advanced residential communities, and preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the nation. Over 85% of farming households in the province have achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Family".

To promote the leading role of farmers in agricultural development, rural economy, and the construction of new rural areas, the various levels of the Farmers' Association have launched the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty"; and mobilized members and farmers to actively participate in implementing national target programs...

As a result, 599,359 households registered for the title of "Excellent Farmers in Production and Business" at all levels; after evaluation, 171,427 households achieved the title (reaching 104.7% of the plan).

Farmers are applying science and technology to agricultural production.

During the period 2023-2025, the An Binh Commune Farmers' Association had 3,220 out of 3,850 member households and farmers achieving the title of excellent farmers in production and business at various levels.

According to Le Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Binh commune and Chairman of the An Binh Commune Farmers' Association, through the emulation movement for excellent production and business, more than 2,600 exemplary members and farmers have emerged who dare to think, dare to act, and boldly apply scientific and technological advancements in production, with effective models such as: growing longan, jackfruit, and Thai rambutan...

Not only has he been a successful farmer and businessman for many years, Mr. Dang Van Thanh (from Cho Lach commune) is also always dedicated and responsible in the production of seedlings and ornamental plants. Mr. Thanh maintains a carefully selected mother plant garden, applies standard care procedures, invests in greenhouses, automatic irrigation systems, and prioritizes biological products instead of chemical pesticides...

According to Mr. Thanh, the business of producing seedlings and ornamental plants is both a livelihood and a source of pride for his hometown. To maintain the Chợ Lách brand, each person involved in the profession must be a pioneer in innovation, produce safely, and uphold their credibility with customers.

Simultaneously, members and farmers donated 94.8 hectares of land; upgraded and repaired rural roads and dikes with a total length of 359.2 km; cleared bushes and cleaned the environment along over 515 km of roads; repaired, upgraded, and built 192 bridges and culverts; illuminated 27 roads with a total length of 29.2 km; planted more than 76,050 trees of various types... contributing to the completion of the province's new rural development targets.

Recognizing the core principle of "the people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, and the people benefit," the Farmers' Association of Tieu Can commune has focused on innovating its propaganda work, helping members understand the purpose, meaning, and their role as key players in building new rural areas.

Since then, members and farmers have donated over 1,200 square meters of land, upgraded and repaired 25 kilometers of rural roads; planted and cared for 22 kilometers of flower-lined roads; and repaired and upgraded 5 rural bridges, with a total contribution of over 3.5 billion VND and more than 60 days of labor.

Over the past period, the role of the Farmers' Association has also been clearly demonstrated through its activities in advising and supporting farmers in developing production and business.

Through this, support has been provided for building trademarks and brands for 166 OCOP products; coordination has helped 53,177 members and farmers create accounts on e-commerce platforms; and coordination has provided support through deferred payment methods for 6,489 tons of supplies, fertilizers, pesticides, animal feed, rice and potato seeds; and 256,000 seedlings and livestock, with a total value of over 546 billion VND, helping members and farmers invest in production and increase their income...

Foundation for the new term

We met Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, head of the Long Tan hamlet Farmers' Association (Long Ho commune), while he and other farmers were eagerly watching a drone spraying pesticides on the rice fields.

Previously, farming was done entirely by manual labor, but now, over 90% of farmers in the hamlet are using these drones for spraying pesticides and sowing seeds. This is proof of the effectiveness of applying science and technology to agricultural production, helping farmers save time and free up labor.

Promoting the leading role of farmers in building new rural areas.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nam said that in addition to changing their mindset in production, local farmers have also developed the economy with effective models such as: breeding and fattening cattle; producing vegetables and growing rice using reduced seeds and emissions. They have also participated in implementing 3.3km of illuminated roads and 4km of flower-lined roads...

Recently, the branch also coordinated the construction and put into use a 2.3km long paved road connecting the hamlets of Cong Da. “With this new paved road, people can travel much more easily. My family also contributed when the road was being built, and now that it’s finished, I’ve planted more flowers to make the landscape even more beautiful,” said Mr. Vo Van Hoang (Long Tan hamlet) excitedly.

Meanwhile, in Cai Von ward, the Farmers' Association has implemented creative and effective methods, promoting the role of officials and members in directly participating in movements, contributing to the increasingly vibrant local landscape.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy An, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cai Von Ward and also Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Cai Von Ward, in the past period, the association has mobilized 2,961 farming households to register for the construction of culturally exemplary families; mobilized members to support the provision of pomelo, durian, and commercial eel seedlings, revolving capital... which has helped 30 member households and 5 near-poor households escape poverty.

Through practical movements and activities, the Farmers' Association has attracted more and more farmers to trust and participate in the organization. In the past period, 20,711 new members were admitted (achieving 258.8% of the plan), bringing the total number to 393,512 members, contributing to building a stronger and more robust organization.

Leveraging its strengths, the entire provincial Farmers' Association system has made efforts to implement many solutions, leaving a remarkable mark and creating a foundation for the 2025-2030 term with a long-term vision and aspiration for development.

Comrade Nguyen Van Dung - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association - emphasized that, with the motto "Unity - Democracy - Innovation - Cooperation - Development," the First Congress of the Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030, has determined the general direction to be building a strong and comprehensive Provincial Farmers' Association; promoting the leading role of farmers in agricultural and rural development, contributing to building a rapidly and sustainably developing province.

On December 10th, the first Provincial Congress of the Farmers' Association, for the 2025-2030 term, held its preliminary session with the participation of 294 official delegates, representing over 393,000 cadres and members throughout the province. The preliminary session approved the program, rules, and regulations of the congress; elected the Presidium, the Secretariat, and the Credentials Committee. Delegates heard a summary report of comments on the draft documents of the first Provincial Congress of the Farmers' Association, 2025-2030 term; the draft documents from higher levels and the revised and supplemented Association Charter; and participated in discussions.

During the 2025-2030 term, the association will focus on implementing breakthrough tasks related to strongly innovating the work of building the association's organization, improving the capacity of cadres, and enhancing the quality of activities at the grassroots level.

Encourage farmers to accelerate digital transformation, apply high-tech agriculture, organic farming, and circular agriculture in conjunction with ecotourism development. Guide and support farmers in concentrated, large-scale production according to planning; establish codes for planting and farming areas and participate in agricultural product value chains.
