His unique collection was unveiled to the public as part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival 2025, one of the special events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
Do Trinh Hoai Nam is one of the designers who has been associated with the festival for many years. This year, his collection, titled "Letters from the City," depicts a corner of the homeland during the resistance war period.
Inspired by postage stamps – symbols of connection, interaction, and heartfelt messages – the collection will recreate a vibrant postage stamp scene right on the stage.
Sharing his thoughts on the "Letters from the City" collection, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam said he drew inspiration from postage stamps, which are associated with the memories of a meaningful period. On the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, stories and images from the period of national reunification left a deep impression on him, especially letters – the connecting thread between the front lines and the home front. From this, the collection was born, featuring nostalgic colors, envelope motifs, images of Vietnamese women, and excerpts from famous letters, expressing love for the homeland through every detail of the ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress).
The Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival will take place from March 1st to 9th with many unique and outstanding activities at historical sites, cultural relics, tourist destinations, and landmarks of the city.
