Tai Po FC vs CAHN form
The situation in Group E was decided before the final matchday. Thanks to a 90th-minute goal by Dinh Bac, CAHN came from behind to defeat Beijing Guoan 2-1 two weeks ago, officially securing their place in the Round of 16 with a 3-point lead over their direct competitor and a better head-to-head record.
However, the V.League representatives haven't necessarily lost their fighting spirit. Currently, CAHN is ranked second, two points behind league leaders Macarthur FC. If they defeat Tai Po FC, and simultaneously the Australian team loses their match in Beijing, coach Mano Polking's squad will move up to the top of the table.
Having already been eliminated, Beijing Guoan may no longer be as determined to fight. Therefore, a defeat for Macarthur FC is unlikely. But above all, CAHN still views the visit to Mong Kok Stadium as a quality practice session before traveling to Pleiku Arena to face HAGL in a week's time for the rescheduled match of V.League Round 4.
Quang Hai and his teammates are also eager to win after their recent less-than-perfect away performance. Last week, CAHN visited Chang Arena for a group stage match in the Southeast Asian Champions League.
Facing their long-time rivals Buriram United again, the Vietnamese representative seemed poised to successfully settle the score from the final match, also held in Thailand in May. Despite taking the lead and playing with a man advantage from the start of the second half, CAHN ultimately conceded a 1-1 draw in injury time.
In the first leg at Hang Day Stadium, Tai Po FC suffered an easy 0-3 defeat. However, at home, coach Lee Chi Kin's team impressed by beating Macarthur FC 2-1 and holding Beijing Guoan to a 3-3 draw. Before hosting CAHN, Tai Po FC also boasted a five-match unbeaten streak at home.

However, the home team's recent form is not good. In their last three matches, Tai Po FC have failed to win, drawing two and losing one. Earning only two points in their last two matches in the Hong Kong (China) Premier League, Tai Po Sports Stadium's team has dropped to third place, four points behind league leaders Kitchee and having played one more game.
