Replicating model agricultural models

With the process of building new rural areas (NTM), many areas in Xuan Hoa commune have invested in road and electricity systems to serve daily life and production. Thanks to that, people have boldly switched to growing specialty fruit trees and building model agricultural models.

Following the merger, the new Xuan Hoa Commune was formed from the communes of Xuan Hoa, Xuan Hung, and Xuan Tam. These were all communes that had previously achieved advanced and model new rural area standards. These outstanding achievements provide a solid foundation for Xuan Hoa to continue striving to achieve the goal of building a modern, ecological new rural area in the new phase.

Thanks to achieving advanced and model new rural area criteria, Xuan Hoa commune's infrastructure has been systematically invested in, with a system of rural roads and electricity serving daily life and production reaching even the fields. Criteria for schools, healthcare, and culture have been invested in comprehensively, effectively meeting the needs of the people. As a result, the rural landscape in the commune has undergone a significant transformation, socio -economic infrastructure has received investment, the environment is green, clean, and beautiful, and the material and spiritual lives of the people have continuously improved.

Mr. Dao Quang, Head of the Farmers' Association in Xuan Tam 4 hamlet, said that the hamlet has many model residential areas and roads. To date, all roads in the hamlet are planted with flowers and ornamental trees. To achieve these model roads, not only have the hamlet officials been active, but the people have also wholeheartedly supported the initiative, participating in watering and caring for the plants every day. Furthermore, the model roads in the area are equipped with lighting systems and security cameras, ensuring convenient and safe travel and daily life for local residents. People no longer worry about petty theft or unsafe nighttime traffic.

Xuan Hoa also pioneered the construction of a model new rural area in digital transformation. Accordingly, people in the commune have access to smart services such as: using smartphones, accessing online payment services; having a camera system for monitoring security and order… Local officials all apply the government's digital transformation platforms through Zalo, Facebook, the commune's electronic information page, the province's online public service portal… to effectively carry out information and communication work. Administrative procedures are received and processed through the electronic one-stop system.

Identifying agriculture as a breakthrough direction in economic development.

In recent years, Xuan Hoa commune has focused on developing agriculture, viewing it as a breakthrough direction in economic development, contributing to continuously improving the income of local people. Specifically, in 2024, the value of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production in the commune reached 854.6 billion VND, with an average annual increase of 4.3%. Currently, the average per capita income in the commune is over 93.8 million VND/year, a testament to the results of the New Rural Development program in improving the material and spiritual lives of rural people.

To date, Xuan Hoa commune has established 5 supply chains and 16 registered trademarks. The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has been effectively implemented, with 12 products achieving OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher, including 4 products achieving OCOP 5 stars. As a result, many local agricultural products have gained market recognition, not only selling well domestically but also being exported to many demanding markets.

The locality also places great emphasis on developing high-tech agriculture and building model agricultural projects. To date, the entire commune has nearly 360 hectares of crops meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. The commune has also established many specialized farming areas for high-economic-value specialty crops.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sinh, Director of Xuan Tam Durian Cooperative, said that durian is currently one of the top crops with high economic efficiency. In recent years, the cooperative has attracted many members and expanded the area planted with this crop to 80 hectares. Thanks to the application of new science and technology in production, the durian orchards of the cooperative members have achieved high yields. For many years, the cooperative members have cultivated according to safe production processes and have been certified VietGAP. Currently, the members are continuing to switch to organic farming with the goal of producing delicious and safe products, not only meeting the needs of the domestic market but also meeting the standards for export to demanding markets.

In the hamlets of Xuan Tam 4, Xuan Tam 5, and Xuan Tam 6, a specialized cultivation area for the high-yielding and stable-performing "longan xuong" variety has been established. Previously, this area was mainly used for growing melaleuca trees or mixed orchards, resulting in low income. Along with the New Rural Development program, the locality has received investment in transportation infrastructure and electricity for daily life and production. As a result, people have confidently switched to growing specialty fruit trees.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, a farmer in Xuan Tam 6 hamlet, shared that in the beginning, longan cultivation was fragmented and small-scale. Recognizing the high economic value of longan, many farmers invested in intensive farming, applying new scientific and technical methods to production. To date, the area planted with the "golden rice" longan variety in the locality has expanded to about 70 hectares, becoming a key crop with high economic efficiency in the area.

According to Nguyen Van Xung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa commune, during the process of building new rural areas, in addition to improving infrastructure and transportation, the local Party committee and government have paid great attention to supporting and creating favorable conditions for farmers to develop production. To date, many specialized areas for growing specialty crops such as longan and durian have been established in the commune, yielding high economic efficiency. The commune also encourages the expansion of fruit tree cooperatives, acting as a link with farmers to form production chains; supporting the development and promotion of brands for local agricultural products and specialties to ensure stable and sustainable product output.
