BANGKOK POST. Thai anti-drug police have seized a large amount of drugs, including 15 million ecstasy pills, about 400 kg of crystal meth and nearly 450 bricks of heroin, worth 300 million baht (8 million USD).
DAWN. More than 56,000 schools in Pakistan's Punjab province will be closed for the rest of this week to prevent a major outbreak of conjunctivitis.
CHINA DAILY. China inaugurated and put into operation its first cross-sea high-speed railway, connecting the cities of Fuzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou in Fujian province.

JAPAN TIMES. Researchers at Waseda University (Japan) confirmed that microplastics are present in clouds, and can affect the climate in ways that we still do not fully understand.
KYODO. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) will carry out the second discharge of treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea on October 5th.
EURASIAN. Japan and France conducted live-fire exercises as part of the Brunet Takamori drills from September 10-30 in the French territory of New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean.

TIMES OF ISRAEL. Israel announced it has reopened the Erez crossing with the Gaza Strip, allowing Palestinian workers to enter and exit Israel after a two-week closure due to violent protests.
DW. Germany signed an agreement to purchase the Israeli-made Arrow 3 hypersonic missile system , becoming an important part of the European Union's air defense system.
Europe
AFP. The Kremlin said Armenia's decision to join the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin, would be an " extremely hostile" act.
UKRINFORM. Ukraine may withdraw its complaint against Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia at the WTO if these three EU member states commit to not imposing restrictions on Ukrainian goods in the future, according to Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Taras Kachka.
REUTERS. Ukraine's relationship with NATO has never been closer, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference after talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

AFP. According to new documents from the Russian Defense Ministry, the country plans to increase defense spending by nearly 70% in 2024, to nearly 10.8 trillion rubles ($111.15 billion), accounting for about 6% of GDP.

REUTERS. In a phone call on September 28, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Japanese counterpart Minoru Kihara affirmed that the two countries will cooperate more closely than ever to prevent any unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the Indo-Pacific region.
REUTERS. Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng said that the Joe Biden administration could help restore the strained relationship by taking "practical" steps.
CNBC. New York City, USA continues to hold the top position in the rankings with 763 points, according to the results of the survey evaluating global financial centers announced on September 28.
