According to Mr. Dang Thanh Phong, Head of the Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, the city currently has more than 72,000 food production, business, and processing establishments; of which the Health sector manages approximately 39,000 establishments.

To protect the health of the people, in recent times, Hanoi's authorities have intensified inspections, supervision, and post-inspection of food hygiene and safety at food production and business establishments, food service businesses, street food vendors, collective kitchens, etc.

Specifically, the Hanoi People's Committee has issued Plan No. 302/KH-UBND on the peak period of communication about food safety in Hanoi City for the period 2024 - 2025.

The Hanoi Food Safety Communication Campaign Plan for the period 2024-2025 was issued to create a substantial change in the awareness and actions of stakeholders including consumers, managers, producers, processors, and food businesses.

According to Dang Thanh Phong, head of the Hanoi Food Safety Department, food safety management will continue to be strengthened from now until the end of the year. The city will focus on implementing the thematic program "Strengthening food safety control in and around school gates in Hanoi" for educational institutions.

Hanoi will review and compile statistics on educational institutions, collective kitchens, and school canteens within its jurisdiction. Simultaneously, authorities will investigate, review, and continuously update information on food service establishments, street food vendors, and grocery stores selling pre-packaged or ready-to-eat processed foods around school gates, categorized by product type and item.

In addition, the city is implementing a comprehensive, decisive, and effective food safety control program in and around school gates, focusing on high-risk food groups, ready-to-eat food and beverages, and establishments providing ready-made meals.

In particular, the inspection, monitoring, and traceability of food in and around school gates are carried out seriously, regularly, and continuously; organizations and individuals violating food safety regulations are strictly dealt with, and information is widely publicized through mass media.

According to doctors, consuming food of unknown origin or that does not meet safety standards can cause acute symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, digestive disorders, and food poisoning.

In particular, eating this diet for a long period of time can affect the body's metabolism and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity.

The use of chemicals, pesticides, and growth hormones that remain in food can be absorbed into the body, accumulate, and cause cancer.
