The above is the comment of Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Chairman of the University Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University , Hanoi, immediately after the exam results were announced.
According to Professor Duc, the exam results show that the exam matrix and the basic level of difficulty have remained stable, and all subjects have shown very positive improvements.

This is reflected in the significant improvement in the average score below 5 across all subjects. This includes subjects like math, history, and physics, which typically have a relatively high percentage of below-average scores.
With the distribution of scores in subjects like mathematics, physics, and especially chemistry and geography having more perfect scores (10 points) compared to previous years, it is predicted that the score distribution for the A00, A01, B00, C00, and D01 combinations will increase.
"Assessing the exam score distribution, we still see that in social science subjects, for example, literature and geography, the percentage of excellent scores is high, while the percentage of below-average scores is low; meanwhile, in natural science subjects like mathematics and physics, although the percentage of excellent scores has improved, the percentage of below-average scores is still higher than in other subjects."
Therefore, the process of guiding students through the university entrance exams and admissions process for the natural science group needs to be given more attention and emphasis.

Commenting on this year's exam score distribution, Professor Pham Hong Quang, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen University Council, said that it shows a high degree of convergence, reflecting the importance placed on secondary education, and there is no significant deviation.
"Based on the score distribution results, I am pleased to see that from remote areas to developed regions, the convergence of general education levels is reflected in all subject scores, with little to no significant difference. Such a distribution graph demonstrates that the teaching organization process, the question setting process, and the data analysis have met the requirements," Professor Quang said.
According to this expert, for the 2018 general education program currently being implemented and for next year when students will be assessed according to the criteria of this program, the teaching and learning process needs to place great emphasis on foundational knowledge, balance between different fields, and value the interdisciplinary and integrated nature of the curriculum.
Therefore, in next year's exam, the assessment process will also prioritize this content, evaluating the students' overall academic abilities and helping them develop the thinking skills and methods necessary to confidently solve real-world problems in the future.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Rector of Hanoi Pedagogical University, research on the score distribution shows that the overall score distribution this year is quite good. This indicates that the exam results are quite stable compared to previous exams and reflect the quality of teaching and learning in general education.
Specifically, the score distribution for some subjects, such as history, is very good. In addition, the score distribution for English is also starting to show a more positive trend compared to previous years.

One of the goals set for the high school graduation exam is to create a certain level of differentiation so that universities can use the results for admissions. In my opinion, this goal has been initially achieved. With a wide range of scores and differentiation in results between subjects, it is entirely possible for universities to use these results as a basis for admissions based on various subject combinations.
Regarding this year's exam question setting, I believe it has been done relatively consistently and is gradually adapting to new question-setting technologies. However, I still hope that future exams will be more uniform in difficulty, with less disparity in scores across subjects. This would create a common ground for easier assessment of teaching and learning quality.
Previously, immediately after the exam results were released, the Ministry of Education and Training also published the score distribution for each subject.
Accordingly, the score distribution for the 2024 high school graduation exams remains stable and similar to the score distribution in 2023 and previous years. The average and median scores for all subjects nationwide remain stable and similar to 2023, as shown in the following table:
The scores for each subject are appropriately differentiated, ensuring stable admissions similar to previous years; the traditional subject combinations used in admissions also remain relatively stable compared to previous years.
