Many new points in separate university entrance exams from 2025

The 2025 Competency Assessment Test of Hanoi National University of Education is scheduled to be held on May 17-18 (Saturday and Sunday). Up to now, 22 training institutions have used the results of the test to consider admission to regular university programs.

A representative of Hanoi National University of Education said that candidates can register for exams in the following subjects: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography and use the exam results to apply for admission to regular university training programs according to the requirements of each university.

Each university has different regulations on the number and combination of subjects to get the exam results and apply for training programs. Therefore, candidates need to carefully study the admission plan of each school to register for the correct and sufficient number of subjects, suitable for their admission wishes.

In particular, from 2026, it is expected that the Competency Assessment Exam of Hanoi National University of Education will add the subjects of Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology.

The content of the exams corresponds to the content of high school subjects and exams, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program and the teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The test combines multiple choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring according to the structure of each test, assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper. Similarly, to comply with the 2018 General Education Program, the Hanoi National University's Competency Assessment Exam will have many new points.

Director of the Hanoi National University Examination Center Nguyen Tien Thao said that the format, questions, and exam papers have been adjusted to suit the 2018 General Education Program, with changes in the quality of the student assessment exam questions. The questions in the exam are about 75% multiple choice questions with 4 options.

The new point in the 2025 capacity assessment test structure will be to add cluster questions in all test sections and test topics. Also from 2025, in addition to the Science test, the capacity assessment test structure will have an English test so that candidates registering for foreign language-related majors can choose to serve the admission process.

It is expected that the Hanoi National University's capacity assessment exam will be held in 6 rounds at 19 testing locations, and the registration portal will open on February 8, 2025. Currently, the Hanoi National University Examination Center has announced the reference test for the 2025 high school student capacity assessment exam as a basis for candidates to review.

At Ho Chi Minh City National University, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment, said that this year's exam will have adjustments to the exam structure to match the changes in the new program. These adjustments will lead to changes in the way universities select admissions based on the results of this exam next year.

Regarding the Thinking Assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Vu Duy Hai - Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department informed that basically, the exam remains stable in structure, content and format as in previous years.

However, there are also some changes in technology to help candidates do better on the test and make it easier to apply for university admission.

In particular, for the 2025 exam, knowledge in the old program, if not present in the new program, will not appear in the thinking assessment test. The question bank will be reviewed and adjusted to ensure adherence to the 2018 General Education Program. Questions containing knowledge not present in the new program will be eliminated.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology will also provide online tests on the mock test system of the thinking assessment test for candidates to experience, practice test-taking skills as well as have an official source of review before the real test.
