At the invitation of Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid an official visit to the People's Republic of China and attended the 14th Annual Summit of the WEF Pioneers from June 25-28.
Could the Permanent Deputy Minister please assess the significance and importance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to China?
China is a large country, a neighboring country sharing a border, a traditional socialist friend, and has close relations with Vietnam.
This is the first official visit to China by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The visit takes place in the context of 2023 marking the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. This visit has three very important meanings.
Firstly, this visit continues the tradition of high-level contacts and exchanges between the two countries. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to China and China's reception of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh demonstrates the importance that the two Parties and two countries place on the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, and their determination to develop this relationship to be even more sustainable, stable, and substantive.
Secondly, this visit is a very important new development, aiming to concretize and implement the substantive results of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's highly successful visit to China in November 2022, especially in the context of a regional and global economic downturn. This visit will focus on finding concrete measures to promote economic and trade cooperation, particularly cross-border trade in goods, between localities abroad, and finding ways to resolve outstanding issues to accelerate the implementation of major infrastructure projects between the two countries.
Thirdly, this visit will also contribute to strengthening political trust, promoting the finding of solutions to remaining differences, including maritime issues, enhancing exchanges between the people and localities of both sides, thereby contributing to making the relationship between the two countries more stable, substantive, and sustainable, and contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world.
Given the significance and importance of this visit, and with the respect and active cooperation with the Chinese side for the success of this visit, I am confident that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to China will be a great success and will continue to contribute to the stable development of relations between the two Parties and two countries, Vietnam and China, bringing practical benefits to the people and peace and stability to the region.
Could the Deputy Minister please tell us what contributions Vietnam will make at the upcoming WEF conference?
The 14th World Economic Forum's Pioneer Summit in Tianjin (WEF Tianjin) is a highly important conference taking place against the backdrop of a regional and global economic downturn, with countries seeking ways to stimulate new growth drivers for economic recovery.
The conference was attended by numerous government leaders and over 1,000 businesses from around the world. The fact that Vietnam was one of the four key government leaders invited to this conference demonstrates the importance that the WEF, as well as the international business community, places on the position and role of the Vietnamese economy, and its determination to reform and open up its economy.
In the current challenging economic climate, I believe that the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation and Vietnamese businesses, will make a very important contribution to the overall success of the Conference, in three aspects.
Firstly, Vietnam is a developing, transitional, and highly open economy. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will call on the regional and global business community, as well as governments, in the current increasingly difficult context, to strengthen cooperation, open up markets for trade and investment, actively support businesses, and unlock resources to revive the economy, which is currently showing signs of decline.
Secondly, through this Conference, the Prime Minister will share experiences and learn from the experiences and lessons of other member economies as well as large enterprises in creating, activating, and leveraging new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, and circular economy development to contribute to realizing rapid, sustainable, inclusive, and innovative growth models based on science and technology and bringing many practical benefits to the people.
Thirdly, through this very important conference, with the large participation of the Government and leading regional and international businesses, the Prime Minister will call on the global business community to continue to pay attention to and increase investment in the Vietnamese market and the Vietnamese economy.
The Prime Minister will highlight the positions, potential, and advantages of the Vietnamese economy, as well as the priority directions in economic development of the Vietnamese Government, especially priority areas, in order to attract high-quality investment resources and leading enterprises to participate in mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, technology, energy, science and technology development, circular economy development, and digital economy development.
In his speeches at the Conference, the Prime Minister will present several recommendations related to public-private partnership models, government-business coordination models, and measures to attract green and sustainable financing into the Vietnamese economy.
I believe that the contributions and participation of the Prime Minister and the high-level Vietnamese delegation will certainly yield many important results, contributing to the overall success of the Conference.
