According to USNI News , the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), along with Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2), cruiser USS Princeton (CG-59), destroyer USS Sterett (DDG-104), and replenishment oiler USNS Guadalupe (T-AO-200) passed through the Strait of Malacca on July 16. It is unclear how long the Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group will remain in the South China Sea and whether it plans to visit any ports. The Carl Vinson departed San Diego Naval Base on November 18, 2024, for a deployment to the Indo- Pacific .
As of July 17, the task force had been operational for 241 days, including three months of operations in the Middle East region under the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
