(Dan Tri) - In 2025, some universities' own exams such as thinking assessment and capacity assessment will have many new points.
Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU)
It is expected that the 2025 HSA exam of VNU will have 6 new points.
New points include: new exam structure ( science or foreign language section); number of questions and how to ask questions in each topic; questions related to practical situations and works outside of textbooks; cluster questions appearing in all sections; candidates can choose the third section; adjusting the schedule for candidates registering for the exam for the first time to reduce network congestion like last year.
Specifically, according to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center (VNU Hanoi), the sample test structure for assessing capacity in 2025 includes 50 questions on mathematics and data processing, and 50 questions on literature and language. These are two compulsory parts of the HSA exam.

The HSA exam questions are approximately 75% multiple choice with 4 options and 25% fill in the blanks.
If last year, cluster questions only appeared in the language test, from 2025, the Hanoi National University's capacity assessment test will add cluster questions in all test sections and test topics. Cluster questions include general topics and specific questions to develop and assess candidates' capacity from low to high levels.
Cluster questions will exploit rich data sources, assess students' thinking in each field and across fields. These are changes in building a question bank for competency assessment exams.
Especially in 2025, the questions in the exam will not be arranged from easy to difficult but will be randomly shuffled according to a fixed matrix.
Ho Chi Minh City National University
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City National University announced new points in the 2025 capacity assessment exam.
Accordingly, from 2025, the structure of the National High School Exam will be adjusted to match the 2018 general education program. Specifically, the National High School Exam from 2025 of this unit will still include 120 multiple-choice objective test questions with 150 minutes of testing and will be conducted on paper.
The 2025 exam will maintain the structure of the language and mathematics sections, while increasing the number of questions in these two sections to increase the reliability and discrimination of the test.
The test scores are converted by section. The maximum score of the test is 1,200 points, in which the maximum score for each component of the test is shown on the score sheet including: Vietnamese is 300 points, English is 300 points; Mathematics is 300 points and Scientific Thinking is 300 points.
According to Ho Chi Minh City National University, the exam from 2025 aims to accurately assess students' overall abilities, helping universities and colleges recruit suitable candidates; at the same time, ensuring fairness, creating equal opportunities in accessing higher education for all candidates, even when they choose different subjects in high school. This approach to the exam is also consistent with the combined admission orientation of member units of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
