Sharing with the press, Djokovic said: "My goal is not to pause but to come back stronger, ready to face younger, more dynamic opponents like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the important thing is that my body is in the best condition.

I’m taking a break and rebuilding my body. I’ve been injured a lot over the last 18 months, so I want to rebuild my body for the new season. Hopefully I can continue to compete with the top players in the world .”

Novak Djokovic is in the process of recovering to prepare for the 2026 season and he showed great determination at the Australian Open in January 2026. The Serbian star has gone two consecutive years without being able to win a Grand Slam.

In the 2025 season, Djokovic was eliminated in the semi-finals of all four tournaments: Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open, after defeats against the world's top players Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic has been plagued by injuries over the past year, forcing him to pull out of the 2025 ATP Finals in November. Nole hopes the long break will help him regain stability and fitness before entering the challenging 2026 season.
