Efforts to improve agricultural and rural infrastructure

In recent times, Chau Que commune has focused on directing and mobilizing resources to complete the rural traffic system and irrigation works to meet the needs of travel, transporting goods and serving agricultural production.

We arrived at Ao Ech village, Chau Que commune when the 4km long rural road had just been completed.

Mr. Trang A Vu - Head of Ao Ech village excitedly said: "Ao Ech is a particularly difficult village. The whole village has 113 households, 100% of whom are Mong people. Traffic is mainly on dirt roads, muddy rain, dusty sun, making the transportation of goods, agricultural products, and construction materials extremely difficult. Now, after many years of waiting, the concrete road has become a reality."

Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, along with the State's support policies and the people's solidarity, 4 km of rural roads connecting the main road to the village have contributed to creating a new look.

Mr. Ly Seo Vu, Ao Ech village shared: “Previously, it took more than half an hour to go from the village to the commune center by motorbike because the dirt road was difficult to travel. Now there is a concrete road, it only takes more than 10 minutes to get there. Children go to school, people go to work, and trading goods is much more convenient.”

Chau Que commune has 17 villages and hamlets. Determining the completion of traffic infrastructure is a breakthrough to promote economic development. In recent times, Chau Que has focused on mobilizing all resources, integrating programs and projects and promoting the role of the people as the main subject.

Since the beginning of 2025, Chau Que commune has concreted nearly 10 km of rural roads with a total cost of nearly 8 billion VND. Of which, the people contributed over 2.4 billion VND, donated more than 5,000 m2 of garden land and thousands of working days. Thanks to that, up to now, 100% of main roads, 85% of alleys and inner-field roads have been concreted. Many roads that were previously just small trails have now become concrete roads 3-5 meters wide, small trucks can go into villages and hamlets.

Transportation is an important driving force for people to develop the economy and escape poverty. Therefore, the commune has focused on directing and mobilizing resources and people's contributions according to the motto "The State and the People work together". The State supports cement, people donate land, labor, sand and gravel. The commune strives to concretize 100% of alley and inner-field roads in the 2025-2030 term.

Not only focusing on traffic development, Chau Que commune also focuses on investing in completing the irrigation system. From 2020 to now, the commune has solidified nearly 100 km of intra-field canals, repaired and upgraded small lakes and dams to serve the irrigation needs of the entire agricultural production area of ​​the commune.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Vi, from Nhuoc village, excitedly said: “My family has more than 2,000 square meters ^of rice fields for two crops. Previously, in the dry season, more than half of the rice growing area had to be converted to growing other food crops, but the economic efficiency was not high. Now there are solid canals leading water to the fields, so there is enough water for every crop. I feel secure in production, and rice productivity has increased significantly."

Synchronous investment in traffic and irrigation infrastructure has helped Chau Que commune form specialized agricultural and forestry production areas such as: cinnamon area of ​​more than 7,000 hectares, 225 hectares of wet rice production area, 400 hectares of high-yield cassava growing area...

Village roads and alleys are clean and beautiful; houses are spacious, people's lives are increasingly improved. The average income per capita of the commune in 2025 will reach over 46 million VND, the rate of poor households will decrease to 4.4%, the rate of near-poor households will decrease to 2.2%.

Mr. Le Quang Dao - Chairman of Chau Que Commune People's Committee added: "The locality does not only stop at completing infrastructure, but also effectively exploits existing works, contributing to improving people's lives. The commune continues to mobilize people to change crop structure, promote commodity production, and build Chau Que commune to develop more and more."
