According to the Plant Protection and Crop Production Sub-Department (Hai Phong City Department of Agriculture and Environment), to date, the entire city has over 300 households that have consolidated more than 3,000 hectares of farmland to form large-scale commodity production areas, mainly for rice production, concentrated in the communes of Nguyen Binh Khiem, Vinh Thinh, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Bao, Chan Hung, Tan Minh, etc.
There are several communes in the western region that, in addition to rice production, also effectively cultivate winter crops, such as: the land consolidation model of Mr. Dinh Van Am (Gia Phuc commune) who leases 35 hectares of land; Mr. Doan Xa Bung (Thanh Mien commune), with 38 hectares; Mr. Tran Xuan Ai (Thanh Mien commune), with 54 hectares... These land consolidation models mainly grow cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower, signing product purchase contracts with traders.
Currently, localities are encouraging farmers to consolidate land to create conditions for large-scale commodity production, bringing high economic efficiency, saving costs, labor, and pesticides; overcoming the problem of abandoned land and successfully implementing crop restructuring and agricultural sector restructuring.
