Speaking with Dan Viet reporter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Director of An Ninh Agricultural Service Cooperative (An Ninh commune, Quynh Phu district) said that after the historic storm and flood (storm No. 3), many fields in An Ninh were deeply flooded for many days, causing damage to the rice. However, the cooperative's associated rice field of about 60 hectares was fortunately slightly affected, many areas of rice that flowered after the storm and flood still ensured quite good productivity.
From a large area of fallow land, thanks to the good implementation of Conclusion No. 675-TB/TU and Resolution 08 of the People's Council of Thai Binh province (promulgating regulations on mechanisms and policies to support land accumulation and concentration to develop the agricultural economy of Thai Binh province until 2028), currently in An Ninh commune there are almost no fallow fields or vacant land.

With the requirement to convert operations to a new cooperative model, An Ninh Agricultural Service Cooperative has made appropriate changes, promoting its role in gathering and guiding farmers to effectively apply scientific and technical advances in production; focusing on establishing production linkages to increase value and profits on the basis of reducing input costs, building agricultural product brands to create stable output.
According to Ms. Mai, the cooperative has invested in purchasing 3 transplanters, 1 soil preparation machine, 2 pesticide sprayers, and 1 fertilizer machine to serve the production of its members. The cooperative's services have become competitive and "healthy" the services serving local production. The cooperative has also gathered 8 harvesters from the locality and from other provinces to serve farmers at reasonable prices, ensuring security and order in the locality.
Not only that, in the 2024 crop season, the cooperative also formed 2 linked fields with a total area of 50.9 hectares and became the leading unit in agricultural production in Quynh Phu district. People participating in the linked model are supported with 10 kg of rice seeds/sao, all costs such as fertilizer, tractor rental, and transplanting machines are 10-30% cheaper than renting outside.
"The seeds and fertilizers here are company products with clear origins and sources. We do not provide floating, poor quality products to farmers. Regarding seeds, we contact directly with reputable suppliers, not through intermediaries. People from the companies directly bring seeds to supply, instruct and transfer science and technology for farmers to implement. Every step is done according to the correct process and recommendations of the relevant authorities, so there is no spontaneous work" - Ms. Mai shared.
Input costs decreased, productivity increased, and selling prices were stable thanks to cooperatives purchasing and consuming products... farmers whispered to each other to join cooperatives, thinking big and doing big.

During the rice harvest season, the cooperative buys rice from farmers at a high price. This year's winter-spring rice crop, farmers planted Huong Com 4 variety, although the storm did not affect them much, with an estimated yield of about 2 - 2.1 quintals per sao.
"This year, farmers rent cutting machines at a low cost, only about 100,000 VND/sao, but they can sell fresh rice at the bank at a high price of about 10,000 VND/kg. In fact, each sao, farmers earn about 2 million VND, depending on the field" - Ms. Mai affirmed. Equipped with machines, the cooperative cleans the fields, restores the fallow fields, then hands them over to individuals who actively produce, and encourages them by providing free services for 2 years.

According to Ms. Mai, after purchasing rice for the people, An Ninh Cooperative will process, package and consume Lang Gianh rice in provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh... In the province, the Cooperative has also opened the first OCOP product introduction and sales point to sell rice. On average, the unit consumes about 50 - 70 tons of rice each year.
"This approach of the An Ninh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative has been highly appreciated by the Party Committee, local authorities and people. The Cooperative has also built the Lang Gianh rice brand according to quality standards, ensuring food hygiene and safety, labels with traceability of origin, and at the same time registered to participate in the province's OCOP program. This is also the first agricultural service cooperative in the province to have a point of introduction and sale of OCOP products" - Ms. Mai said.
Mr. Vu Ba Hieu (in Van Phuc village, An Ninh commune) said that this year, his family planted 1 hectare of specialty rice and just harvested with a yield of 2.1 quintals/sao. "This year, many places suffered rice damage due to floods, but we still harvested and sold it at a much higher price than the previous crop. The rice weighed at the edge of the field is about 10,000 VND/kg" - Mr. Hieu revealed.
Mr. Hieu said: Thanks to the cooperative rice cultivation, we have reduced many costs. What is more worth mentioning is that people do not have to worry about the output of the product. When it is time to harvest, there are machines to harvest the rice in the field. People only need to stand on the bank to weigh the rice and sell it to the cooperative for a "lump sum" of money, so everyone is very excited and confident to continue to cooperate to do bigger business in the coming crops.
