Farmers of An Hoa ward strive to compete in production and good business

An Hoa Ward Farmers' Association visited the breeding cow model of its members using loans from the Farmers' Support Fund.

Every year, the number of registered members always reaches over 80%, the number of households achieving the title of excellent production and business at all levels always reaches over 50% of the total number of registered households.

Mr. Tong Hai Au - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of An Hoa Ward said that in order to have conditions to help members and farmers who lack capital in the production and business process, the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of the ward and the Head of the Fund Mobilization Committee for Farmers' Support of the ward coordinated with local sectors and organizations, and 10 residential area branches to mobilize the annual Farmers' Support Fund to achieve and exceed the target of 15% -20%; consider disbursement and rotation of the project of raising breeding cows, the capital source of the Farmers' Support Fund managed by the ward is 520 million VND for 26 members to borrow, each household 20 million VND; the project of raising breeding cows, the capital source of the province supports 500 million VND for 20 associations to borrow, each household 25 million VND.

Every year, the unit responds to participate in the "Saving Week, joining hands for the poor" launched by the superior Association, achieving and exceeding the assigned plan; at the same time, it receives capital support from the Social Policy Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.

For the Social Policy Bank, 16 groups have been entrusted with outstanding loans through the programs of 23 billion VND. For the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, 14 affiliated groups have been established with 541 households, outstanding loans to date are over 20 billion VND. All groups entrusted with the 2 banks have performed well their roles and tasks in helping members and farmers develop a stable economy . The units have organized and mobilized the construction of 4 Farmer's Shelter houses, each worth over 70 million VND, to help members with housing difficulties.

According to the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of An Hoa Ward, in order to help farmer members develop the economy, recently, the Association has coordinated with the ward authorities to establish the An Hoa Agricultural Service Cooperative, consisting of 78 members with a charter capital of 500 million VND, participating in the production of commercial rice varieties, agricultural material supply services, harvesting and transportation services and being the focal point for agricultural product consumption for members with a total area of over 105 hectares. The cooperative is equipped with a combine harvester and two crawler rice mills for harvesting and transporting rice.

In addition, to facilitate the members of the cooperative from production investment to harvesting, the cooperative signed contracts with two companies to supply materials (rice seeds, fertilizers) in the form of deferred payment and purchase all products of the members. The Farmers' Association of the ward always coordinates with the cooperative to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the members, promptly recommending to the leaders and functional departments to have policies to support the development of the cooperative.

Specifically, the Ward Farmers' Association has considered providing preferential loans to 17 members of the cooperative from the Central Farmers' Support Fund to raise breeding cows. Every year, the Town Agricultural Extension Center coordinates with the project to raise climbing perch, snakehead fish, and test raising eel, and produce commercial rice.

Through the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably", many typical examples of good farmers and businessmen have appeared with an average annual income of 350-800 million VND/year, such as: farmer member Tran Van Tham in An Thoi quarter who grows wet rice; Le Minh Tung in An Loi quarter who grows rice and sells groceries; Nguyen Tuan An in Hoa Phu quarter with a model of raising snakehead fish...

Promoting the role and responsibility of the Association in participating in the construction of new rural areas, the Ward Farmers' Association proactively implements specific, creative contents and tasks, bringing practical results in the construction of new rural areas - civilized urban wards in the locality.

Implementing the motto "The State and the People work together", in the past time, the Farmers' Association of the ward has mobilized members and farmers to actively contribute cash, land and other architectural objects with a total value of over 3.5 billion VND to repair, upgrade and harden 3 rural traffic routes of 1,500m long; 2 flower roads of 450m long; 1 rural road lighting route of 750m long; planting 1,225 trees of all kinds, contributing to the former An Hoa commune completing the National Target Program on new rural construction, together with the Party Committee, government and people of An Hoa ward to build a civilized urban ward.

With the achievements in the past 5 years, the An Hoa Ward Farmers' Association has received many certificates of merit from the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association ; the Provincial Farmers' Association and certificates of merit from the Town People's Committee and the Trang Bang Town Farmers' Association.
